8 Thoughts on “The difference between the religious and non-religious

  1. Not so similar:

Religious – qualities you listed here more self-focused.
    Non- religious – more other-focused.

    I’m happy, I’m tough, I’m fit.
    vs.
I care about you, I’m smart, I’ll help you.

  2. Spoken like a self centered fool there Ruf. Good job at destroying your own hypothesis.

What about Scientology? You meet lots of actors but it will cost you all your assets to meet in secret just to play Oija.

  4. The study wasn’t about me – LJL – It’s about larger social classifications of people. But I see like a true conservative, you filter everything at the PERSONAL level (as in as if it were me) – and EXPECT that that’s how everyone else in the world frames their life experiences as well – like you do. Almost like not being able to get out of your own way. Ego-centric. Low empathy.

  5. To utter expand on the idea – consider why (the motivation) for the majority (not all – not all the same) of religious people ARE religious. The study above (among others) tends to support the idea that it is their “personal salvation” – I.E, to save/benefit THEMSELVES. Not because it facilitates their ability to help others, but because it provides them with a “support community” that helps them – individually. Google: “motivations for religious beliefs”. Read. Learn.

  6. These studies and my comments here are not about “good vs. evil”, or the “right way to be” vs. “the wrong way to be”. Rather, they simply demonstrate that there are DIFFERENCES between people. We are not all of ONE MIND.

  7. Thats funny Ruf. Your selective reading is at it’s best again. Reread your first blog and tell yourself YOU didn’t personalize the thread to your own beliefs, then post your ignorance.

It appears to me you get lost in your OWN thoughts a lot so let me simplify.
The thread was about how much the 2 sides had in common. Which is good. But in your twisted, self serving, mindframe you chose to keep grinding the ax of division.

I think the study is good news. Then I read your post and remember how far “society” has fallen.

Another example of where you should’ve stayed to the shallow end of a deeper subject. Maybe work on self editing for the better of us all.

  8. LJL – please read the title of the post.

There is “subtitle” that talks about DL’s perception – that there are similarities (contradicting his own title).

That is followed facts/findings from the study that point out the DIFFERENCES (not any similarities).

You imagine there are similarities (just as DL does)? Please – LIST THEM. He didn’t.
