I drove by this place last year on Jessica Avenue, I see he has added to the He Man Woman Haters Club since I last drove by.
So do you think this is a work of art or a nuisance? Besides his rinky-dink trailer parked on the street, his yard seems to be pretty clean.
Last year the mayor did a press conference about dilapidated houses, code violations etc., and he mentioned that some of these people have ‘mental conditions’. Made me laugh coming from his mouth.
It depends are the other houses in the neighborhood dilapidated, burned out and owned by slumlords? Is it a funky artsy neighborhood?
If it is located in a normal decent working class neighborhood I’d be grateful if this house was not in it. My resale value would be hurt and would worry me about what kind of neighbors I’d end up with in other houses.

Guess I gotta show him how to defeat code enforcement process. They deny appeals into court. One would think they’d change ordinances. I provide citizens a standard speal and lawyer referral. Some lawyers take these cases free. It’s constructive disobediance the city deserves for denying constitutional liberty.
Hey, do a spot on the new city hotel at the airport. I heard from a hotel executive nobody will build in Sioux Falls because the city has lodging tax pricing benefit. Also, there’s a new Amerinn at Hartford. People are staying there and Brandon because hotel fees/taxes are to high here.
It is not my taste, but he has a clean lawn and even flowers out on the stump……….No trash blowing around. If his neighbors are contented, let it be.

Unless that trailer moves every 48 hours, it’s illegally “stored” on the street. The little funky addition on the back side – I don’t believe that angled chimney is to code. Otherwise – whatever.
This gets to the heart of how bad home rule is.
This guy is doing whatever he wants to his house and is obviously not feeling the wrath of the city. On the other hand Joe average is terrified of the cities code, has to purchase a bunch of permits and subject himself to a shit load of overreaching bureaucracy and inspections to finish out his starter home or rehab a fixer upper.
This city is total shit since home rule. Permits for lawn irrigation, decks, shingles, fences, sheds, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, home fire monitoring and I’m sure theres more I’m not labelling.
My coworker had his furnaced replaced by Frisbee. The city inspected (post installation) and determined his furnace was TOO BIG. How the F— does the city get away with this!?!?!?!?
How can your furnace be ‘too big’? That’s hilarious. I look at it like toilets, you can buy low flow ones if you want or you can buy a regular one. If the guy wants a furnace that would heat the Arena, that’s his bizzo, as long as it is up to code and operational.

Well, it is color coordinated and clean. Some people are just collectors. I don’t get that American Flag on the pole, however. Not a standard one.
This brought to mind what a friend once said regarding pink flamingoes on a front lawn — “At least it shows that someone cares what it looks like.”

I smelled bullshit so I checked hotel prices on a weekday next week.
I can get a queen room at the Ramada near the airport for $109, plus $12 in taxes.
The Holiday Inn Express in Brandon is $116, plus $10 in taxes.
The AmericInn in Hartford is $90, plus $6 in taxes.
If anyone, let alone a business, is going to look me in the eye and tell me that driving 20 miles out to fucking nowhere is worth saving two or three dollars in taxes, know that any reasonable and rational person will laugh you out of the room. I mean, unless you value your time at like 42 cents an hour, that’s absurd.
Some of you are so stuck in your memes that I don’t even know how you function in society anymore. Or maybe you just don’t.
Also, that house in the picture looks awful. We wouldn’t need laws for crap like that if people just had some respect for their neighbors and their property values.
Hornguy, there’s a new private nightly stay I’m involved with. It’s like Uber & Lyft. Condos for nightly stay barter (paid) out of state. No monetary exchange. Therefore, no lodging or sales tax. A 20% advantage but also low residential property taxes and depreciation. Altogether, a 40% advantage. It’s the best way to compete with the trade violation city hotel at the airport.
