A simple few questions started out our new Council in fine form. Remember the Bee Gees song, I started a Joke? This Sioux Falls City Council Informational was anything but a joke. Right after being sworn in to office, Greg Neitzert and Theresa Stehly began asking questions. The leadership and administration are trying to find ways to slow down the new members. We say, keep asking the questions, it’s going to heat things up.

I get tired of Michelle and Rex ‘lecturing’ the new councilors and making snide comments like “welcome to City Government” or “I remind you its the Mayors meeting”. I wish Selberg or Starr would wake up and do something. How many weeks are they going to sit around and watch the grass grow? They seem starstruck. Very sad. Stehly and Neitzert are at least showing some fire.

Lest we forget, it’s Home Rule reign. The council is but the popular sentiment. The mayor can overrule anything and everything. We should (at least) get back into federal form. There, the popular vote is a clue how the electoral college should decide. If there’s no decision, congress decides a president. In Sioux Falls, none of this. One tyrant dictates. The council must agree or they’re executed.

Give me liberty and something that resembles democracy or (bare minimum) a republic.
