Maybe if the City trimmed its OWN trees we wouldn’t have to worry about this stuff

There are several of these turkeys that show up in the Project TRIM neighborhoods trying to scam people;

Over the past few weeks, two separate tree trimming scam reports have been made in Sioux Falls. In both cases, the victims were scammed for more than $3,000 each. The suspect walked up to the victims and offered to trim the victims’ trees since the suspect said he was already working in the area. Unfortunately, neither victim asked to see the suspect’s state sale’s license or City of Sioux Falls peddler’s permit, which all door-to-door sales are required to have. Without those permits, it is illegal to sell goods or services door-to-door.

It’s time city ordinance changed and required the city to trim THEIR trees in the boulevards instead of turning property tax paying homeowners into criminals for NOT taking care of city property.

If anyone is a SCAM artist, it’s the city. They scammed us into taking care of their property, something we already pay taxes to do.

I can see where many seniors can be scammed. In fact, I need to get into this business. Nobody asks for a peddles permit or sales tax license. This is a better con than the 3 cups game where’s the ball. I’d cut the trees down and sell the firewood.

Isn’t Project Trim authorization to cut down trees in the street right of way? It’s an instant firewood sale of about 3 grand you can use to support your kids meth habit.

Still amazes me how you bitch about the city spending too much on everything but you think it should trim your trees. Lazy liberal.

It is not about laziness. The city owns the boulevard and the trees in it. I pay taxes for the city to take of their property, like streets, etc. All I ask is that the city uses my tax dollars to take care of their property and not charge me extra to trim their trees.

So the city should mow your boulevard then too? The city does not own the trees. If you want trees in you boulevard you have to install it. Cut down the tree. Problem solved.

I can’t cut the tree down (which I would like to) without permission from the city, because guess what IT’S THEIR TREE!
