Proposed Residential Airport

READ THE MINUTES

Yes, in a town where most people are middle to lower income some rich folks in town want their own airstrip next to their homes. The two petitioners are involved with a large construction company and the ethanol industry. The developer helping with the project is former City Councilor and current State Legislator, Greg Jamison.

While the proposal was a tie/stalemate with Minnehaha County voting for it and the City Planning Commission voting against, that means it goes to the Minnehaha CC and Sioux Falls city council for joint meeting approval on March 23.

A city official told me today that it may not make that date because the FAA is rumored to have already put a kabosh on it. We will see.

The Fly-Up airstrip concept has happened in other states in more rural areas. Generally, small ranches back up to an airstrip and planes can come into and park near homes. There’s lots of land speculation in and around Sioux Falls. It’s not going to happen here. Try closer to Mitchell or Brookings. It’s another county that accepts development without paying off politicians. Why not subdivide the Noem farm for this? It’s the best way to double land valuation and it’s central to the population centers of the state. Sioux Falls is being bypassed with the Worthington option between MSP and Sioux City. Nothing happens here without being blocked by a few multimillionaires. With Amazon and others, this will become a warehouse town. Build it and they will come.

Meanwhile, Harry and Megan are so abused. Yes, she’s got minority blood but he’s a red albino sunburn. If their problems are suicide, bring in another duke and dutchess. We won’t miss them. Seriously, we’re dying of Covid and they go without caviar. Give them Canada so they disappear into oblivion.

“Are they going to name it after Trump?”…

“Something small would be fitting for Trump”…. “Noem could park her new state plane there”….

“Maybe they could name a terminal wing after ‘Roundsberg’, too”….. “It could be known for its steak, baked potato, and ale, I mean Coke, eatery”…. (“Look Johnny!”…. “That’s the governor’s plane!”….. (“But who’s that orange guy?”…. ))

From the standpoint of regional planning, the distance from the driveway on the northside of this property to Marv Skie Airport in Tea is exactly 7.3 miles; 12 minutes.
No.
