Please tell me you are joking?

The Committee on Education and Labor will overseas federal programs and initiatives dealing with all levels of education as well as work force initiatives aimed at strengthening health care, job training and retirement security for workers.

This is a woman who has been self-employed her entire life and has probably never been to a job interview! She also campaigned on repealing healthcare reform and privatizing social security and has a strong anti-union stance. Pass the barf bag please.

35 Thoughts on “Noem to serve on labor committee?!

  1. What’s wrong with privatizing social security and being anti-union? Are you happy getting a ROI worse than stuffing it in mason jars and burying it?

  2. Did you not read the article? She will be sitting on a ‘Labor committee’ not an ‘anti-labor’ committee.

Social security and medicare are funded but not all reaches those it’s meant for. This state took a big chunk out of this years medicare for other use. Imagine if a wall street ‘Madoff’ got ahold of your life’s contributions. It’d be worse than trusting Huether with a $300 million budget. I say no to privatization.

  5. with her high school education, she should be well qualified to sit on the education commitee.

At least the only people that got screwed by Madoff were the idiots that gave him their money despite the red flags. We’re all going to get screwed over on SS & Medicare/Medicaid.

Oh, and they’re not “funded”. The money’s all been spent and the IOU’s are coming due. The only question is, who gets thrown in prison for these ponzi schemes?

  7. Not to mention she didn’t ever earn an education???

  8. Yeah, Madoff took people for sure, however those people were looking for get rich quick. Single stocks and your neighbors “sure thing” are the quick way to go broke, invest in mutual funds or similar for the long term though and you will come out ahead. Perhaps with a HS education, she would be well qualified to serve on that committee, we are we to say she doesn’t know a few things? I sure wish everyone questioned Obamas qualifications like they do to her. Oh yeah, I did not read TFA.

  9. You think this is a doozy – just heard Michelle Bachman is assigned to the “Intelligence Committee”@!!!!!!

  10. all you critics could at least wait and see what happens but i guess partisanship makes people silly.

“”!Hey Republicans are bad and stupid!””
Oh wait, Tom “the tax cheat” Daschle was on the Senate Finance Committee – or the tax writing committee. But then Tom’s probably a saint to the partisan d’s here.
not from sd but deomocrat committee assignments which proved to be a joke:William “cold cash” Jefferson House Committee assignments = Budget, Ways and Means. -convicted- 11 counts of corruption sentenced 13 yrs.
    C. Rangel: joint committee on taxation, ways and means. charged with 13 counts of violating House rules and federal laws – found guilty on 11.
I could go on but some get the idea. The partsan hacks will ignore the truth and continue to be part of the problem. Get a clue – R’s and D’s both suck!

  11. Jeff, we are talking about Noem. I love it when you wingnuts come on hear and change the topic by saying, “But, But, But, a Democrat did it . . .” That’s the past Jeff, we are talking about the present. Please focus.

  12. Kristi likes the lime light. She has been trying to become a star for years. I bet there is still an audition tape of her and her sister trying to get on the show “the amazing race”. Someone told me the story that she was even flown to LA as a finalist to be on the show a few years ago.

  13. Must have failed the IQ test.

An equal appointment/disappointment?!!?!…Noem was named to the Natural Resources committee, which handles issues with Native Americans. This appointment should be a good deal as SD as 8 reservations. 5 out 7 of the poorest counties in the United States are on Indian Land. I might be wrong, but I do not think Kristi stopped and campaigned on any reservation this year.

In fact the party that I am registered with had a fricking fit that Sandlin did visit Pine Ridge and gave someone a bowl of Chili. Funny how that Chili broke the rules but a campaign supper at $500 a plate is ok.

A bowl of chili buys more votes then a $500 dollar campaign donation? A bowl of chili buys more votes then $2 million of out of state money? That bowl of chili bought more votes the a few little white lies? Well this year it did not.

  15. @l3wis. I’m sorry, i thought you were talking about committee assignments. i didn’t realize it could only be about undeucated, welfare farmer, just been fucked hair, deer in the headlights noem. i shouldn’t have brought up other ironic assignments. rufusx brought up bachman but she’s an r so that’s ok.
hey i didn’t defend noem. but you do give her a lot of electrons for not even being on the job yet. i’d guess you know more about noem than i, but she had one thing that got my vote – she wasn’t an incumbent.
as i’ve said thune and johnson need to go to. the system is so broken not giving more than a term or two is the only solution available unless we can get money out of campaigning. but i digress. i’m just a wingnut.
btw, i voted for tom the tax cheat and johnson. how many non-d’s have you ever voted for? indy my ass.

  16. thin-skinned, jeff?

South Dakota just lost its seat on the the House Ag Committee. Nice bunt, voters. That is the kind of thing that happens when folks vote against their interests.

  17. I voted for Marking and endorsed him on this site.

  18. not thin skinned – but troubled. single party bashers are a big part of the problems we face. if steph on the ag committee was such a good deal why are we still bitching about subsidies? it absolutely has NO, ZERO effect which pol. sits on the ag committee. single party bashers don’t want to hear the truth about farm subsidies, about the revolving door politics and who really controls the ag comitte, the interior dept, etc. imho, anyone who thinks one party is worse than the other is a complete idiot. it’s no wonder the tea party started. with all their goofy ideas they at least woke a few people up that the status quo is not working. some will say things have always been similar as now but that is not true. money and a few large companies rule most politicians who have been in office more than one term. noem will be no better, no worse. but she’s sure an easy target for those devoted to a single party. christ she hasn’t even done anything yet… and she won’t do much. she will be strangled by the same purse strings that strangled stephanie.

  19. @ l3wis. the trouble with voting for Marking is he had no chance. I would have voted for him too if the other two didn’t outspend him by gazillions. the system is broken.
in fact, stephs peeps claimed your vote was like a vote for noem. way to go – get out the incumbent!

  20. “just been fucked hair” is a good one!

  21. @jeff

Best way to assure that it truely IS the “unelected, inside the beltway” unelected lobbyist-driven agenda is to throw all the “elected bums” out in elections. Incumbents have a clue as to who is who and what their agenda is. Naive Newbies are vulnerable. All you need to do is look at how many “lifelong professional insiders” have been hired as staff members by all the new Reps. Not a good approach on your part.

  22. rufusx, i don’t understand your post.

Most who run for any political office; county commission, mayor, sheriff, state senate, gov, congress, president; are good people. But as soon as one person, not necessarily just a corporation, but one person gives them $10 to run for office, you will have the start of corruption. At that time that persons vote was bought and paid for.

I would love to see someone who runs for office to do it on a shoe string. Start his personal car at Rosholt and cover all 4 corners of the state, stopping in coffee shops, C stores, grain elevators, ball games, etc. No TV, no fing out of state money, no newspaper or radio paid ads, just handshakes, good ideas with good ears, and smiles.

I really think if you were half way smart, decent looking, and sincere, you would have a chance to win in South Dakota.

But as soon as some one give them $10, they are reminded of it everytime that person wants something.

Everyone talks about entitlements….welfare, the health bill, social security, subsidies….you just described most senators.

Welfare…get a check for not doing anything

Health bill…Obamacare is pale compared to the health
    program our senators have.

social security…your senator pays nothing and will draw a huge pension when voted out

subsidies…do you have to pay your office staff??

If Congress take all the entitlements away, do you think there could be a revolt and they might lose theirs’ also?

I really think Kristi Noem thought she could make a difference. I think she as already fallen into the Washington DC trap. Oh by the way, I have know her for years.

  24. @jeff

“No incumbents” (your voting strategy) only gives a bigger advantage to the lobyists’ $$$. All the NEW Reps are MORE DEPENDENT on the lobbyists and other indisers to tell them what’s going on and “guide them” through the legislative process to their decisions.

  25. insiders

  26. i thought that’s what you meant but had trouble comprehending your writing.
I’m sure you’d feel the same way if the lame sd dems could have found someone to beat thune. (eyeroll)

  27. Jeff-

Funny you mention Marking and the money he spent. I believe Marking got the biggest bang for his buck. I think he spent around $3,000-$6,000 and got over 16,000 votes. compare that to the millions spent by his competitors. Who is the true fiscal conservative running in the race?

  28. l3wis. that may be a good point but it’s… well, pointless. figure out how the system can be changed to keep a level playing field, get the company controlling money out of elections so we can have genuine government. that is hard to do when the criminals make the laws, the patients are running the asylum, the fox is guarding the henhouse…

  29. Publicly fund campaigns.

  30. No Ag Committee, no Energy and Commerce, no Veterans Affairs, all key positions held by SHS. Pleny of mention of her Education credentials above, but consider this, Kristi will be the only on on that committee without a degree among 3 MDs, 5 attorneys, one PhD and 5 master’s degrees. It will be interesting to see how much influence she can muster.

  31. Big hair is intimidating.

This is actually how the right feels about students and labor … why should we be shocked?

  33. In Noem’s defense, when asked about her experience with labor she said she had a great deal of first-hand experience since she went through it three times giving birth to her children.

  34. Totally tasteless joke of the day ahead… skip this one if you are easily offended or can’t take a joke without assuming it is all about partisanship.
