Wasn’t zoning this time, beer sales.

The Sioux Falls, SD City Council had some fun poking the underbelly of Walmart on January 6, 2016. Walmart claims to have missed the notice because an employee dropped the ball or missed the mailman or the emails or maybe the Fiddle Faddle’s dog ate their homework.

As Michelle Erpenbach said this is the public shamming of huge corporation and to this end, the Walmart Public Affairs and Government Relations Senior Manager had to show up. Whose butt do you suppose was spanked for this screw-up?

4 Thoughts on “Not the first public meeting Walmart has missed in Sioux Falls, but when the administration is willing to break the rules for you, why does it matter?

Ummm, sounded to me like the reason they didn’t know was someone (licensing specialist) in their home office had been let go (“former associate”) possibly for not getting the job done??? and had not been replaced yet during the “window” when the original notifications were sent. Remember now, Walmart’s corporate offices are in ARKANSAS.

They bought and paid for the mayor/council. They shouldn’t have to show up except to argue against another Target store

Send greeters to play bingo with the council. They’re going brain dead from voting on nothing but special occasions liquor permits.

Perhaps I misunderstood but I thought Walmart was punished for not appearing – they couldn’t sell beer/wine for a week as their license renewal had not been approved. This is the punishment allowed by law.
