Sioux Falls City Council Candidate Forum (Dem Forum 3/11/2016)

Five Sioux Falls city council candidates get grilled with no cheese at the Democratic Forum on Friday March 11, 2016 luncheon. Some were not happy with a few of the questions.

Our Cameraman Bruce asked why several of these council candidates and apparently the others don’t think it is important to vote in city and school elections. It’s not like we would want people who are engaged in the process to actually want to run for the office.

Start listening to the ass covering they are doing as the questions get hard. Pay attention to those who actually know something about the process. Do we want more candidates elected who have no knowledge of the process or care to even learn?

We think we deserve more than lackadaisical non-voting candidates helping us get out of messes this administration has put us into.

Boys & Girls Club to dump Brennan R & R academy

I suppose if I had half the night to speculate why this is happening, I could come up with quite a few conclusions;

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire and Brennan Rock & Roll Academy said Monday that they are ending an exclusive partnership to provide music education services to children.

As I called around to friends in the music world in Sioux Falls, I pretty much got the same derogatory statements about Chuck Brennan, ironically the same was said when he announced he was going to sponsor the place to begin with.

Besides the obvious ‘statements’ no one knows who dumped who. We both know at the end of the day it will be a ‘mutal’ agreement, but we all know better.

As someone said to me months ago about the studio space, “It’s set up more to be a night club or bar then a music school.” which only makes one wonder if Chuck got tired of his charitable giving and is going to create Badlands II out of the space.

Either way, hopefully the real story comes out why this partnership ended and I hope some of the people who volunteered as teachers at the place are brave enough to speak out.

1st Reading of new Parking Strip (Boulevard) ordinance

While I find most of it agreeable (or as I have told advocates, it won’t change what it is in my boulevard). (Item #46, DOC; PS_O) The section regarding mailboxes, especially ones that are more permanent (like brickwork) may be a little concerned. As I understand it as I read it below (I think) if a utility company, or the city destroys your structure, you are responsible for the loss, and it also looks like you won’t be able to replace it like it was.

cityordinance

I totally understand in an emergency situation, but if it is scheduled work, there is no reason these cannot be preserved.
