UPDATE: SD Republican Party’s Deafening Silence

Isn’t it funny how the Iowa Jew who runs the South Dakota Republican party loves to mouth off about how horrible the Dems are in our state but has absolutely NOTHING to say about Butina’s involvement in the state party and some of it’s operatives?

Not a peep.

And then there’s this trade delegation organized by Democratic State Representative Michael Saba who apparently says it is going so well it may open other trade negotiations besides ag products.

Once again, not a word from Iowa . . . uh . . . I mean South Dakota Republicans.

UPDATE: I guess I’m an anti-semite because I called the leader of the SD GOP a Jew from Iowa. He is a Jew from Iowa. That’s not anti-semitism, that’s a FACT! My point has nothing to do with him being a Jew, my point has been all along that the Christian Right Wing Republican party in South Dakota, who constantly are telling us about their SOUTH DAKOTA VALUES and CHRISTIAN BELIEFS are ran by an IOWAN who is NOT CHRISTIAN.

They really struggle with the truth.

Like their leader Trump, the SD GOP is full of it

Only one other person besides the SD GOP Chair could spread this much B.S. in two paragraphs, their leader, Trump;

Chairman Dan Lederman noted “It’s too bad that Democrat leadership decided they were bankrupt both financially as well as competing in the arena of ideas. Even more so today, the weight of finding solutions to our challenges and leading our state are strictly on the shoulders of the Republican party.”

“If Democrats want to find a way to get back on their feet in South Dakota, they need to come together with Republicans and listen to their neighbors about keeping taxes low, helping them live the American dream, and letting them prosper based on our own initiatives. That’s what the SDGOP has always believed, and our party’s sustained success reflects that.” Lederman said.

Let’s review;

• It’s called the ‘Democratic Party’. Republicans think they are cute when they call it the ‘Democrat Party’. The party has never changed their name. It’s their way of being childish and condescending, another thing their leader Trump is good at.

• While the Republican Party does have the numbers, their supposed majority leadership has only lead to multiple petition drives and initiatives that have been turned over by the voters.

• Sales taxes are actually regressive and harm the poorest in the state the most. When you look at property taxes in combination with sales taxes our taxes individually as middle class citizens actually have a high tax burden. The only ones getting enormous tax breaks are the rich and corporations. Why do you think Billions in trust accounts sit in our state or RVer’s register their address here. Do the math.

• As for living the ‘American Dream’ South Dakotans, while some of the most productive in the nation, get paid some of the lowest wages in almost every professional and technical field in the nation. On top of that, we have some of the most expensive public education institutions in the nation. The right to work laws and anti-organized labor initiatives of the SD GOP have made us into a prehistoric institution.

While it is unfortunate that the SD Democratic Party hasn’t been viable in years, it doesn’t help that the SD GOP has played this hoax of ‘Living the Dream’ on hard working South Dakotans. But that’s all the SD GOP and their fearless leader are good at, LYING, they have truly been successful on that front.

We both know that when you compare what goes on in DC and what goes on in SD they are two different things.

What surprises me about the SDDP debt is that it really isn’t that much. There are many high-ranking Dems in this state that could cut a check to pull the party out of it’s measly $40K debt. Heck, they could probably find 40 dems to give $1,000 each. I think a lot of long time Dems have become disenfranchised over the past 10 years due to the party leadership’s concerns about where school kids go to the bathroom instead of about better paying jobs for ALL South Dakotans, properly funded education, a fair taxation system and the farm economy.

I look at the party’s collapse as an opportunity for people in this state to re-invent the party as strong opposition to the party of Trump, one of the most crooked, corrupt and dishonest presidents in the history of this country. Heck, if the Dem party gets their poop in a group, I might even re-register as a Dem.

Speaking of Trump and the National Republican Party, it seems some of the party leaders are running scared;

Earlier this week, the conservative Daily Caller website asked the offices of each of the 53 Republican senators whether they opposed the impeachment and removal of President Donald Trump. Just seven of them said yes.Which is, well, verrrrrrry interesting. (Mike Marion Rounds was one of the 7)

And why wouldn’t they? Think about it, when (not if) the Congress AND Senate finds Mr. Trump guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors, the National GOP will have NO choice but to cleanse themselves of him before he collapses the entire party. And if Republicans are good at one thing, it’s throwing their colleagues under the bus to save their own asses. Honestly though, I already think it is too late. The GOP should have never let him be the nominee, and they will paying for this for years.

So I recommend anyone considering running as a Dem in SD next year to get in early, because Nationally, it is going to be a really good year for Dems and a really miserable one for Republicans – now if we can just get SD voters to grow a brain before next November.

Because 40 years of one party rule has shredded the rules for that party. So a Republican AG says that a city ran by a (partisan) Republican Mayor with a Republican President visiting could legally donate security detail to a Republican Governor Candidate’s campaign because they were protecting a Republican President (who just happened to be in town for a PRIVATE fundraiser for a fellow Republican).

Bend over South Dakota, it’s gonna be a long four years.

In Politics: Nationally, Trump relented and signed the Legislation needed to keep the Government open. Then, as if unable to tolerate the calm, he created another Constitutional Crisis by declaring a National Emergency and announcing he would use money Congress had appropriated elsewhere to build his wall. Trump’s drama and his attacks on the institutions that have given us a stable government for almost 250 years, which, in turn, underlies the very foundation of our prosperity and leadership in the World, has to stop. Unfortunately, only Republicans, including our own Republican Senators Thune and Rounds and Representative Johnson can mitigate the damage Trump inflicts daily on our Country. As Adam Schiff, Chair of the House Intelligence Committee said yesterday……:

“To my Republican colleagues: When the president attacked the independence of the Justice Department by intervening in a case in which he is implicated, you did not speak out. When he attacked the press as the enemy of the people, you again were silent. When he targeted the judiciary, labeling judges and decisions he didn’t like as illegitimate, we heard not a word. And now he comes for Congress, the first branch of government, seeking to strip it of its greatest power, that of the purse.”
“Many of you have acknowledged your deep misgivings about the president in quiet conversations over the past two years. You have bemoaned his lack of decency, character and integrity. You have deplored his fundamental inability to tell the truth. But for reasons that are all too easy to comprehend, you have chosen to keep your misgivings and your rising alarm private.”
“That must end. The time for silent disagreement is over. You must speak out.”

Back in South Dakota, a friend noted an article from Jan. 29 in my hometown paper, the Huron Daily Plainsman, entitled “Nepotism bill defeated in committee.”

My friend wrote, “Seems like an outrage considering, as the paper noted, Kristi Noem hired her daughter a recent SDSU grad as a policy adviser in her office, Daugaard’s chief of staff was his son in law, Gov. Rounds hired his brothers, sisters in law and children. Republicans feeding their families at the teat of government. Welfare for them. Thought they were opposed to that.”

Republican hypocrisy, it is never ending.
