Where are all the Republicants and FOX News correspondents now on how great this jackass is?

NEW ORLEANS — A hero of conservatives who bruised the liberal group ACORN by posing as a pimp on hidden camera is now accused in an attempt to tamper with phone lines at Democratic U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu’s office inside a federal building.

I hope they throw the book at this dumbass and throw away the key. While I agree there was probably some corruption in ACORN, for the most part the organization helped to get people registered to the vote, and it’s sad that a few bad apples had to make the whole organization look bad. I only have one word for Mr. O’Keefe, Karma.

“While I agree there was probably some corruption in ACORN,”

Some?..fuk n a. Glad I wasn’t drinking a latte at the time or you would owe me a new screen. Here’s a tally that the MSM ignored long before they ignored this story:

“Although the organization prides itself for its registration efforts, it also has a long history of scandal. In the state of Missouri in 1986, 12 ACORN members were convicted of voter fraud. But that case was not an isolated incident in the state. In December 2004, in St. Louis, six volunteers pleaded guilty of dozens of election law violations for filling out registration cards with names of dead people and other bogus information. Authorities launched an earlier investigation after noticing that among the new voters was longtime St. Louis alderman Albert “Red” Villa, who died in 1990. The volunteers worked for “Operation Big Vote” — a branch of ACORN — in St. Louis.

On February 10, 2005, Nonaresa Montgomery, a paid worker who ran Operation Big Vote during the run-up to the 2001 mayoral primary, was found guilty of vote fraud. Montgomery hired about 30 workers to do fraudulent voter-registration canvassing. Instead of knocking on doors, the volunteers sat at a St. Louis fast food restaurant and wrote out names and information from an outdated voter list. About 1,500 fraudulent voter registration cards were turned in.

In October 2006, St. Louis election officials discovered at least 1,492 “potentially fraudulent” voter registration cards. They were all turned in by ACORN volunteers.

In November 2006, 20,000 to 35,000 questionable voter registration forms were turned in by ACORN officials in Missouri. Most all of these were from St. Louis and Kansas City areas, where ACORN purportedly sought to help empower the “disenfranchised” minorities living there. But the ACORN workers weren’t just told to register new voters. The workers admitted on camera that they were coached to tell registrants to vote for Democrat Claire McCaskill.

In 2007, in Kansas City, Missouri, four ACORN employees were indicted for fraud. In April of this year eight ACORN employees in St. Louis city and county pleaded guilty to federal election fraud for submitting bogus voter registrations.

    And, that was just Missouri.”

  2. I was wondering how long it would be before this was posted.

Entering a federal office under false pretenses and most likely attempting to install listening devices is bound to get them noticed.

Seems to be a common pattern of behavior for the darlings of the far right extremist crowd… but no, I doubt this will be talked about on Hannity, Rush, O’Reilly, Beck, or any of the Fox News programs for two weeks non-stop like it was when they infiltrated ACORN.

That’s the whole “Fair and Balanced” thing at work you know.

  3. Sy – anytime you pay volunteers or employees based upon the number of voter registration cards they collect you are bound to find fraud…. especially when you “hire” unemployed workers off the street with little to no formal training and zero background checks.

ACORN is guilty of it, groups they work with are guilty of it, contractors who work with them are guilty of it, and I’m sure any other group of their size is guilty of it.

That doesn’t make it right by any means, but submitting some invalid registration cards doesn’t in any way invalidate the hundreds of thousands of legitimate cards (not that you suggested it did – I’m merely making a point).

I’d be much more concerned if our system included enough flaws to allow these fake voters to actually vote… therein lies the problem. However, those who do commit fraud should be prosecuted and as far as I’m concerned banned from ever participating in the political process for the remainder of their days.

However, here in South Dakota we don’t work like that. When someone here commits voter fraud, he goes on to be elected a Freshmen member of the legislature. Just ask Todd Schlekeway… seemed to work out just fine for him.

  4. Costner:

“Seems to be a common pattern of behavior for the darlings of the far right extremist crowd… ”

Guess who also uses his playbook:

“O’Keefe, a self-described “progressive radical” who studied the tactics of Saul Alinsky, made a name for himself at Rutgers University as the founder of a conservative newspaper and a producer of hidden camera stings of politically correct administrators. From 2006 through 2007 he worked for the Leadership Institute, training conservative students on how to start campus publications. In July and August 2009 he and 20-year-old activist Hannah Giles posed, respectively, as a pimp and prostitute seeking advice for cheating on their taxes from various ACORN employees across the country. Their investigation badly damaged ACORN and fueled a successful congressional effort to temporarily prevent the group from receiving any federal funds.”

Ever heard of Saul Alinsky? Our CIC sure has.

You and I both know if this had been a skinny Michael Moore type exposing Bush or McCain’s involvement with a group like this it would’ve been all over the place and the kid would be dusting off his Pulitzer.

BTW, just like in here..most of the Media didn’t want to talk about his original story, now that he’s busted he’s the topic of the day.

  5. “Who in the hell would ever believe that guy was really a pimp?”

That was my first thought upon seeing the videos, how could anyone take him as anything but a joke dressed up like that. I’m not sure how reliable the source is but I read that he actually came in wearing a plain white shirt and later spliced in footage of himself in the 70’s era pimp wear. It makes sense to me since I can’t figure out any other way to film footage of himself when he was the one holding the camera.

  6. That is why some of the ACORN workers played along, because his get up was so ridiculous, they reported this clown to the police, but of course you never hear about those reports. Costner makes a good point. While some fraud existed, for the most part, a lot of people got registered to vote thru ACORN, which is a very positive thing. This really upsets Republicants because these are people that WON’T vote for them. They like voter suppression, that’s how they got BUSH elected to his second term. While ACORN has it’s problems I still think it’s intentions are good. Besides, it has worked about 100 times better then any abstinence education program the feds have wasted their money on.

  7. Sy: BTW, just like in here..most of the Media didn’t want to talk about his original story, now that he’s busted he’s the topic of the day.

What planet have you been living on? I heard about his ACORN shenanigans day in and day out for about two months straight. We even saw it lead to Congressional debate about pulling every penny of funding from ACORN and it was on the news (yes even CNN and MSNBC) as a subject of discussion for weeks.

Do you suppose those same Congressmen will be asking to investigate the conservative groups which have been funding some of O’Keefe’s “films”?? I think not.

Of course Fox was still talking about the ACORN issue up until a few weeks ago, but that is par for the course.

So then O’Keefe does something like what he did here – potentially a federal felony, and how did I hear about it? On Yahoo News of all places. Not on Fox, not on CNN, not on talk radio… but on a headline from a website that wasn’t even in the top ten.

Yea – hot topic of the day indeed. Funny how this is so close to the original Watergate yet Fox hasn’t coined a “gate” term to go with it yet. They seem to do it with everything else… why not this one?

Oh wait – there are more important stories to talk about like how the RNC is holding it’s winter meeting in Hawaii or what the ‘real’ reason is for Joe Biden’s son withdrawing from the Senate race.

    Good grief.

  8. Costner, I will say this, it is not a ‘BIG’ story, but it is funny. This moron will probably pay a $50,000 fine and sit in Federal prison for a couple of years, get a book deal, blah, blah, blah.

I have to admit, though, his ‘telephone repairman’ getup was even more far-fetched then his pimp outfit. It’s straight from an episode of ‘Three’s Company”. I laughed balls when I read that.

  9. I think the question everyone should be asking here is… what ever happened to the girl that played the part of the prostitute? I see a real future for her in adult films if she has such a desire.

  10. Yea – hot topic of the day indeed. Funny how this is so close to the original Watergate yet Fox hasn’t coined a “gate” term to go with it yet. They seem to do it with everything else… why not this one?

When will all the baby boomers in the media die off so we don’t have to have “gate” attached to every single scandal coming out of DC?

I wonder what the meme would be if Nixon’s guys had broken into a Holiday Inn.

  11. Depends…it would be a lot more fun if it were a Holiday Inn Express. That way everything would have a fast paced moniker.

Instead of Plamegate it would be “Plame Express”.

Instead of Climategate we would have “Climate Express”.

Instead of Troopergate it would be “Trooper Express”.

Some of those just sound like rejected titles for Micheal Bay movies, but maybe adding an exclamation point would be better. For instance instead of Rathergate, you would now have “Rather Express!”.

    Works for me.

  12. Don’t forget republican Mark Jacoby who was arrested in Ontario, CA for voter fraud. He was found guilty in 2009.

Mark Jacoby Arrested in Voter Fraud
October 20, 2008|Evan Halper, Times Staff Writer
SACRAMENTO — The owner of a firm that the California Republican Party hired to register tens of thousands of voters this year was arrested in Ontario over the weekend on suspicion of voter registration fraud.

Jacoby’s arrest by state investigators and the Ontario Police Department late Saturday came after dozens of voters said they were duped into registering as Republicans by people employed by YPM. The voters said YPM workers tricked them by saying they were signing a petition to toughen penalties against child molesters.

The firm was paid $7 to $12 for every Californian it registered as a member of the GOP.

State and local investigators allege that Mark Jacoby fraudulently registered himself to vote at a childhood California address where he no longer lives so he would appear to meet the legal requirement that all signature gatherers be eligible to vote in California. His firm, Young Political Majors, or YPM, collects petition signatures and registers voters in California and other states. …Jacoby’s arrest by state investigators and the Ontario Police Department late Saturday came after dozens of voters said they were duped into registering as Republicans by people employed by YPM. The voters said YPM workers tricked them by saying they were signing a petition to toughen penalties against child molesters. …After complaints by voters and Democratic Party officials, several agencies launched investigations into Jacoby’s activities. They included the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, which issued the warrant for his arrest earlier this month on felony charges of voter registration fraud and perjury.

YPM has been accused of using bait-and-switch tactics across the country. Election officials and lawmakers have launched investigations into the activities of YPM workers in Florida and Massachusetts. In Arizona, the firm was recently a defendant in a civil rights lawsuit.
