This is a major public meeting at the Convention Center on the Railroad Relocation Project. This will be an opportunity for the public to weigh in on the project.
The presentation starts at 5:30.
Not sure why the SF MSM failed to inform the public of this meeting involving a project that has gone on for 12 years and involves a 35 million dollar federal earmark? They must only have 99 eyes open on this one 😉

With the draft Environmental Assessment and Section 4(f) Evaluation document out for public review, Public works will be holding the final public meeting to present the preferred alternative to the public.

The public meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Convention Center, 1101 North West Avenue. The meeting will begin with a 30-minute presentation. A general question and answer session will be held following the presentation. Representatives from City, State, and Federal staff will be available to answer questions.

  1. Why has our State’s largest newspaper, the Argus Leader, NOT done a thing to publicize this important meeting involving a 35 million dollar federal earmark?!!

  2. I just confirmed with the AL newsroom that the last communication they did on this project meeting was July 31st, 13 days ago.

The only word that comes to mind is “irresponsible”!!!!

  3. It’s the responsibility of the lead gov’t agency to give adequate public notice by releasing an announcement to the local newspaper. I would assume the lead gov’t agency is the Sioux Falls Planning Dept., but I’m not certain. To stay on the up-and-up, another meeting should be scheduled with proper notice given.

  4. They can’t be bothered with things like this, they have a bike ride and ribfest to plan for next year.

  5. Since when it is the duty of the media to publish the city’s calendar of meetings?

If the city wants people to know about it, they can purchase space in the paper or some ad time on KELO just like everyone else.

If anyone dropped the ball on the notification it is the city… not the media. Besides I told nobody reads the Argus anymore so why bother?

  6. The Argus Is The Official Publisher Of Record For City And County. I Wonder If The Notice Of Official Meetings Laws Have ChangeD?
