What about ‘Mental’ evaluations?

While the city does physical evaluations of our firefighters, you wonder if there is any ‘mental’ evaluations? (Item #1)

I have been told “Fitness assessments” listed are part of the firefighter’s labor agreement where they are required to annually participate in a non-punitive assessment of their fitness. It includes tests like body fat measuring, BMI, push-ups, and cardiovascular fitness, etc. This was in place before the annual incumbent physical agility test (IPAT) was being used, so it seems unneeded (the IPAT annually shows the employee’s ability to perform essential job tasks) except it mentions behavioral health and then mental health on the program link, which IPAT doesn’t cover.

An overview of the program can be found here:

There’s only been one scientific study done nationally (by Chicago Fire) and their results showed that the suicide rates for firefighters are 5x the national average.

What happened to Mayor Huether’s ‘communications’ presentation

On Friday, I noticed in the SF City Council’s informational meeting agenda, that Huether was scheduled to do a presentation entitled ‘Communications’ it has since been removed.

Not only can’t he communicate with the council, he can’t even communicate about the lack of communication. But hey, we have another billboard with his face on it, what more do we need?

The Rich are ruining the contemporary art world, imagine that

My first rejected piece from Arts Night, because I said ‘art is dead’

Believe it or not, it is happening in our very community. A very well known SD contemporary artist was rejected from Arts Night at the Pavilion this year for a controversial political piece. The crazy part is that I told him before he submitted it that it was one of the best pieces he has ever done, and to tell you the truth, it wasn’t that controversial, just truthful.

Here are 7 reasons why the contemporary art world is an insufferable scam — corrupted by the super-rich

1. Art collectors treat art as an investment.

2. Art is a spectacle.

3. Conceptual art is a joke.

4. Art factories steal souls.

5. Art school is kind of a scam.

6. Women artists and artists of color are sidelined.

7. Money for art in public schools is dwindling.

Are our local TV Stations skewing the school start date debate

My first reaction is to blame it on bad journalism and ineptness, let’s face it, coming from a station who has a long standing anchor resigning because she just realized she is grumpy and grouchy and another station that is more concerned about photo-ops with the mayor at their company Christmas party we shouldn’t be too surprised.

First, Sammi starts it off with her bad math skills;

The later start also means pushing the end of school back. The last day of school this year is May 14th.

With the new proposal, it would be nearly a month later on June 2nd.

Not sure what math classes Sammi took in college, but last I checked a month is between 28-31 days. The difference between 5/14 and 6/2 is 19 days, about 11 days short of a month. But nice try skewing the topic.

Let’s move on to the Grouchy Nancy station.

Contrary to popular belief, this group is completely student run, other than a mentor needed to oversee the students. Students are not given extra credit to join the group or vote in the election. These ideas and opinions are all student based and are what the students want.

Ah nice work (wink, nod, nod, SF School District Attorney Sue Simons) yeah, not one single teacher or administrator, or PR person has spent ANY time during instructional time on school property helping these students, because see that would violate state law, and let’s just take their word for it. But why would KSFGrouchy spend anytime actually investigating if what the students are saying is true? Because that would take being an actual journalist instead just a microphone stand.
