Press Conference?

Paul said this to city councilors in an email last night;

I hope you’ve had a chance to follow communications shared by the administration during the two media briefings today and the information shared on the City’s social media channels. During a crisis, I can’t stress enough the importance of sharing information responsibly. As a reminder, the administration is charged with leading the public information efforts. Deviation from this messaging could lead to confusion with the public and mistrust of yourself. I would recommend you copy and paste the exact messaging we are providing, or share the City’s media posts. I would also urge you not to conduct any media interviews regarding response and recovery. Again, we want to avoid confusion. Trained emergency responders and public information officers carefully craft our messages and deviation can be troublesome.

Why was TJ Nelson taking a photo of the media who was attending today’s press conference (as seen on the AL live stream at 10:30)?

Keeping asking when our emergency response efforts will be trained for mass injury. We lucked out again.

“public information officers carefully craft our messages “.

Horseshit. This is a natural disaster, not a latte.

I like the ‘copy and paste’ part, as if any of the city councilors are not smart enough to write something intelligent themselves, well, may a couple of them 🙂

My god, mayor. Practice what you preach. You post selfie videos on your personal FB page that appear nowhere else. No consistency between info on the COSF web site and the COSF FB page. Inconsistent message between videos and FB/web site text/graphic pages.

Where is Rex Rolfing when we need him!?

That’s funny. That’s what my insurance adjuster told me about my roof. He told me to “cut and paste” it.

#9 Note to self: When addressing people, who live north of 57th St., make sure to wear "$rucker hat." on 09.13.19 at 12:53 am

Our mayor must have got the email from our Gov about when to wear those “$rucker hats, huh? ….. “Emergencies, when people are suffering, or for dedications involving the deceased…..”

( – and Woodstock ponders: “With a hat like that, Wildrow Wilson could have done so much better at a League of Nations meeting, don’t you think?”)

Having to quote the city verbatim is a free speech infraction. Yes, do it in quotations but the media has the right to add comment. Especially when the city bible verse leaves out important details.

Enough about the mayors’ hat. Trump and Noem wear hats on bad hair days. I wear a baseball hat most of the time because I’m nearly bald. A hat is a personal thing. Generally, it’s practical but somewhat a comfort prop that works inwardly and outwardly in public.

This passage –
“Deviation from this messaging could lead to … mistrust of yourself.”

Followed by this rebuke at the conclusion –
“… public information officers carefully craft our messages …”

The adverb modifier “carefully” clearly doesn’t belong here.
But at least they didn’t try to include anything associated with the the term “accurate” in the description of their duties!

#13 No "$rucker Hat" at the presser with Rounds, Thune, and Dusty, I see.... on 09.13.19 at 3:56 pm

You know what they told Theresa when she got on the Council: “You work for the city and not your constituents.”

#14 What about paper towels?....Will we get some free tossed paper towels like your "B" student once did? on 09.13.19 at 9:15 pm

If you are going to wear a hat as a political leader in South Dakota. Then here is how it should be done. It should be done with a touch of the “South 40” look:

#15 "Uh, Kermit, activate the taupe sirens immediately!" on 09.13.19 at 10:00 pm

I have been a little busy this week with debris, so I just watched the initial press conference by the city concerning the tornadoes. I found it ironic, that only the SE part of town had sirens activated….. The Taupe Housing Society of Conformity wins again!…. 😉
