Maybe Wholestone got the message, we don’t want another stinky packing plant in Sioux Falls;
On Wednesday, Sioux Falls Mayor Paul TenHaken told KELOLAND News he could see Wholestone build its larger hog processing plant, but he could also see it not being built.
His Magic 8-Ball must not be working today.
Labor, housing, and the economic climate are all factoring in on this as well as available capital for a potential merger. When Amazon is sending out walk-sequence postcards to residents looking for workers I am sure Wholestone was scratching their heads wondering where they are going to find workers and where to house them.
Just imagine if the millions that were spent on the campaign were spent propping up local charities like homeless shelters. What an incredible waste that could have been avoided if the city council would have acted earlier.
South Sioux City is now less jealous of us now.
darn! and i was going to go to their butcher shop and buy a pound of bacon.
Imagine moving here because of Noem and “liberty”, and you move into one of those new million dollar condos – which overlooks the once Seney Island – and you and your spouse say to each other: “Oliver my darling, do you smell that stench?… Lisa my dear, that’s the smell of freedom”….
When a city grows, comes a time they don’t want to be known for pigs. Land and labor are cheaper from a small community nearby. A pig company dangles a pork plant near a city for neighboring favor and tax incentives. Pig transport is by truck. Before, Sioux Falls had rail. Rail was routed away because of city of tree huggers. Doesn’t work for pork plants. Need mass murderers.
yeah what with all the child labor getting exposed will be interesting to see it’ll all end up slaughter by droids anyway
Piggly Wiggly used to be my favorite grocery store, but then they stopped selling pork and their sales collapsed. It’s like Arby’s without roast beef, or a city without a council ….. ( …. “A parking ramp without a hotel?”…. ) ….
i think what this newly built Hwy 100 needs is 6 million hogs in nebraska/iowa livestock trailers pounding hogshit into it every year. Funny how these mega-projects all seem to come into existence at the same time.
