We have reduced our ambitions lately from saving the World to surviving Trump. As residents of a state dominated by crazy, right-wing Republican’s for many years we probably have special insight to share.
The leadership of the South Dakota Democratic Party (SDDP) is in the Washington, DC area for the 4th or 5th time since they recalled their own Chairperson 18 months ago. They are there to choose a new National Democratic Chairperson and his or her leadership team. South Dakota has about 1/4th of 1% of our Nation’s population and Democratic voter registration in South Dakota has fallen to 23.2% of total voter registration in our State, so you can imagine how important the presence of SDDP’s leadership is in DC. I would estimate it as even less relevant than the seven Democratic Legislative Caucus members their leadership of the SDDP has left us with in our State’s 105 member Legislature.
Is it just me, or does “Little Marco” now have that look on his face like: ‘I gave up a safe Senate seat for this nonsense?” Because, does he really know why he’s in Panama?
The good news, however, is that apparently, Noem is 18th in presidential succession, while Bobby is 12th. Oh, and Burgum is 7th, however, so Burgum are you thinking what I’m thinking? And then there’s ThuneHaken, I mean Hegseth, who’s 6th, while blond bombshell Bondi is 7th….. AND, Musk doesn’t have a number, just Trump’s…..:

( and Woodstock adds: “Does this mean that Noem will have to miss all of the State of Union addresses to help maintain the continuity of government?”….. ( ….. “Man, I wonder what kind of ‘outfits’ she’ll come up with for those stage positioning moments?” …. “Maybe, she’ll dress like Trump with her finger poised to hit the Diet Coke button”…. ))
Scott, you may like my plan of getting the Republican Party Central Committee Members together with the Democrat Central Committee Members in a Joint Forum to discuss statewide affairs. What do you think? I am sure the Trump Patriots and the Conservative-Democratic Wing can sit down respectively and discuss common agenda.
Sheldon You could not be more mistaken about the leadership of the SDDP.
Actually, I’m on the DCC again (I’m back like Trump 😉 ). I would love to meet with them. I’ve got a few ideas. 🙂
No point in remaining a registered D in SD when you can register as a R and vote for the least objectionable R in the primary election and then vote for the D (if there is one) in the general election.
RV is probably right, but like that last Japanese soldier on a remote Pacific island still fighting a world war in the 1970s, I just can’t give it up. 🙂
VSG – the Japanese soldier didn’t realize the war was over. I do.
But is it really? If we help the Republicans nominate more sensible nominees, then it will be harder to beat them in the fall. Over the last 15 years, since the advent of the Tea Party and then Trumpism, it has been the crazies that have allowed Dems to win more races. If we help stop the crazies, then it’s less Dems and more moderate supply-sider enablers in our government, who give more to the rich while taking from the middle class and the poor.
I love it when the GOP nominates the crazies. It helps the Dems to define the GOP and to win. Now, some crazies still win, like this ‘Clockwork Orange’ reality that we now have going on in DC, but it would be much worse right now, if it wasn’t for the overall crazy nominees that the GOP has had the capability to produce in the last 15 years, especially.
