The city opened bids on Minnesota Avenue January 22. The estimate submitted by the engineering consultant was $19 million. Low bid was $11.8 million. Another blown estimate.
So remember the Non-Unity bridge fiasco? We spent $10 million over recommended bid, this time we are $7 million below? What gives? And why is the city’s engineering department hiring a consultant to calculate cost? Are there no engineers in the city’s engineering department? Apparently not.
I feel sorry for the next mayor and the turd sandwich waiting for them on their desk.
A deja vu bridge is a bridge that takes you to somewhere you have been before. It could be a bridge too far, or a bridge to nowhere, but if it’s nowhere, then how have you been there before? Unless, this bridge is a part of a quantum entanglement or superposition, which then allows you to be in two places at once while also connected to the other, which is somewhat like the past and the present combined, or what they call deja vu….. AND, deja vu is a French phrase. The French are known for their food, but not their technologies, so there you go …..:

I remember when they did a story about the Mall of America opening in ’92 and the Austad’s store there. Or, how about the story about the once Super Bowl in Minneapolis and local Sioux Falls volunteers, and how many stories did they do about Sioux Falls possibly stealing the Viking’s training camp from Mankato? AND, then there were the multiple stories over time about South Dakota native Chad Greenway and the Vikings. Or, how about the local ACE Hardware owner and his Minnesota Vikings cheerleader daughter? Also, a story about how one of the I-35 bridge collapse victims was from western South Dakota as well. In fact, they even found a connection between the Pentagon, 9/11, and nearby Luverne, too, but when it comes to the murders of George Floyd, Renee Good, and Alex Pretti, the local media appears to be silent ….. Oh no, I take that back, they did do a story about George Floyd’s uncle, who lives in Gettysburg, South Dakota once, but when that uncle was arrested later for drug charges, there were multiple stories about him (I wonder if those stories would have ever happened without the initial notoriety?). But you would think that given the proximity of Sioux Falls to Minneapolis, there would be some kind of connection to Siouxland with Good and Pretti, wouldn’t you? But for now, apparently not, but there is a new news story about the Burger Battle, however, and the guy who ate 50 hotdogs, I mean, all 50 of the Burger Battle burgers….. Check it out! ….. It’s pressing news! …..:

VSG
am i the only one who remembers
when they were sending a busload of antifa to town from the fargo j.l. beer for the burger battle?
Isn’t JL Beers based out of Fargo? So, there you go. In fact, aren’t they associated with Vinyl Taco and the former Borrowed Bucks?
( and Woodstock adds: “Yep, we used to have a nice meat market here in town, but alls we gots now is a hamburger sandwich” ….. )
VSG, the next time we have a chat, I will tell you about my experience helping to open the SF location DT and the ownership group. Biggest group of F——g P—-s I have ever met in my life, and dumber then a mud fence. Here is just one example. Instead of buying a Point of Service system (POS) that EVERY restaurant uses they created their own with some clown in Fargo. It was awful, and too many steps to order something. They also kept accusing the staff of skimming the til, and after like 3 investigations they determined that it wasn’t happening, just BAD accounting on their part. They are AWFUL HORRIBLE people!!!!! They even threatened us with criminal prosecution!! They are that EVIL! Oh, and here is fun fact, they use the same ground beef supplier as Burger King. You can take that how you want to, I think 60 minutes got sued over the product they coined as ‘Pink Slime’.
The first time I went to Fargo was in 1972. I was 12 years old, and one of my older sisters and her family lived up there in the Fargo-Moorhead vicinity (Dilworth), and even at that age, I couldn’t help but notice that Fargo was more innocent (backwards) than Sioux Falls. I actually said to myself back in 1972, at a rather precocious age 11, if I can say, that it was 1957 right now here in Fargo.
Although, Fargo did keep their Shakee’s Pizza for a lot longer than we did (Yum!), and they had a Dayton’s like 3 to 4 years before us in Sioux Falls….
Also, many years ago, a Fargo crowd bought out Prime Time Burgers on West 12th and changed the name to Burger Time. They were something else, too. My betterhalf used to work and manage for them. Let’s just say the movie was accurate….. #’Fargo’ #HotDish #GollySacks
( and Woodstock adds: “Say, did you guys know that they have broomball (hockey with a broom and ball) tournaments up in Fargo? …. Yep, they sure do” …… 🙂 #FargosPickleballiGuess )
“Say, maybe they should make the Burger Battle bi-annual… We should hold another one in July during the nation’s 250th birthday.” …… “I’m imagining a Trump Burger with little or no beef” …… 🙂 ………:
