My mother’s cousin’s blog

He has an interesting blog he started after publishing the above book, mom writes;

Did I ever tell you that my cousin Joel Jurrens, also has a blog site.  He lives in Estherville, IA and is a deputy sherrif over there.  He also has written a mystery book named “In the Sticks”.  I have it and read it.  He is the type of guy that has a dry sense of humor and injects this into his book.

BTW, my mother is a DaCola reader and commenter. Be nice.

UPDATED: The Color of Sound; Screening, FEB 20

Remember this movie? Well we are taking it out of hiding and going to have a PUBLIC screening next month (6 years later) in conjunction with a live performance. It will be held at ICON Lounge from 7-10 PM, February 20, Wednesday night. According to ICON, that is ladies night there, so there will be drink specials and NO COVER! The film will be shown from 7 – 8, with an intermission before the band and live painting performance begins at 9:45. Jamie, Hope and I (original members of the painting cast) will do about 3 paintings while Jesse Christen and some other musicians jam.

Come check it out!

Not sure who painted the background canvas, probably Terry Bittner (Don’t worry Terry, if I sell any of these, you get a cut 🙂

I used the dry brush method on this one.

If only elected officials did their jobs

Minnehaha County Commissioner, Dick Kelly, just can’t understand why anyone would want to petition their government;

Commissioner Dick Kelly countered, “Everybody has the right to petition. The problem is they have to work within the accommodations we have. I thought last summer was really bad. Petitioners were out there for everything you can think of.”

Dick, you are correct we have the RIGHT to petition our government. We also pay for the heating and the cooling of the county administration building, it is a public facility, we own the place.

I have often said if our local elected officials did the WORK OF THE PEOPLE we would not have to have so many petition drives, but nowadays it seems like that is the only way to get anything accomplished in local government, unless of course they postpone an election 🙁

Instead complaining about petitioners Dick, why not just listen to the public and serve them better instead increasing their taxes and giving yourself a raise. Let’s talk about who is ‘BAD’.
