Well at least they are not smoking pot
What a way to send a message about drinking to teenagers. Parents and friends drinking beer in a publicly funded building! Happy Beerday!

In an amazing change of heart, the Sisseton School Board has decided to change the name of their mascot.
“Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of things that are red that are cool, International and Massey-Ferguson tractors, Ferrari’s, Santa’s suit, but hey, it was time for a change,” says school board president Igor Nant.
While the controversy surrounded the derogatory name towards native Americans (Redmen), Igor says it had nothing to do with that.
“Hey, we were just tired of not seeing any Redmen (or Ferrari’s) around town, so what was the point? Not to mention, our town is famous throughout South Dakota for our homemade saltines!”
Yes, the ‘Sisseton Saltines’ may not have that ‘fighting’ mascot sound, but they sure are tasty with the corner bar’s famous goat/grouse chili.
“We may be called a cracker, but we are salty in our fight,” exclaims Igor (giggling and flagellating at the same time).
When area Lakota students were asked about the name change they said,
“Everyone knows an indian taco on pita bread beats podunk chili and crackers (unless Stephanie-Herseth-Sandlin-Raven is serving them).”
Either way, each party can now move on happily with full (and gassy) stomachs.
This was my ‘un-winning’ design.
A person (who really liked my design) asked me the other day when this ‘quasi-official’ group was going to submit their Sioux Falls design (by a South African)?
I don’t know.
Besides there questionable selection process being publicized, I have heard nothing.
But I have made the pledge today that if the design is submitted to the city and voted on by the city council, I will submit my idea also. So let’s bring on a ‘real’ challenge. I encourage others to submit also.
Believe me, I get the question quite a bit (well not really) but I do get it.
As everyone knows, Andy was very involved with the ‘Build it Downtown’ group, then after that he bitterly left the local government advocate scene.
I tried to contact him a few times about other issues, and he didn’t seem interested. So I moved on. (While most people would think I am an agitator, I really am not. If you tell me NO, I get it.)
Anyhoo, Andy moved somewhere by Nashville, TN, and he has been blogging about marital affairs. I will let his writing (rantings) speak for themselves.

Give me a break. Why are the kids answering your phone anyway Ernie? And BTW, several constituents showed up to testify, and you and the committee didn’t allow the ‘intellectual’ conversation. Piss and moan about the ‘kids’ all you want, but your ilk continue to hide behind the morality and constitutional argument (which is weak at best).
Let’s face it, you are butt hurt that the Democrats have been handing you your asses on initiatives and you don’t have complete control. Pull the fairytale constitution, from your rear ends and start governing like logical human beings. A democracy is built around the people, not rhetoric, not 20-year old lawsuits and certainly not about answering services.
Let me repeat that, PEOPLE! LIVING PEOPLE!
Now turn on your cell phone, your emails and carrier pigeons and listen to the PEOPLE!
