This letter writer lays out why Jolene has more integrity than Paul;

First, he takes a $1,000 donation from each family member of the DocuTap founder Eric McDonald and his five children. He claims this does not violate any campaign rules in this race and was found to be ethical. Nevertheless, it violates moral integrity of a candidate for mayor. He went on to claim that the children in the McDonald family independently supported him as a candidate for mayor. I for one find it hard to believe that a 6-year-old child can even comprehend the concept of the campaign for mayor.

The irony of this is that McDonald could have created a PAC to funnel as much money as we wanted to Paul instead of using his children as a political pawns. But McDonald’s actions aside, Paul should not have accepted the donation, and several people have told him so. It lacks ethical behavior. He has raised close to $200k, did he really need to take money from toddlers?

Second, for a man who claims he will have transparency in his office, how can he be trusted to work on the business of the City of Sioux Falls or will he be too busy digging up dirt on every citizen of Sioux Falls?

Paul’s past is worrisome, trolling his employees on FB, trying to chase down political operatives using college students, and moving data around to cover a state employee’s ass. Imagine how he will treat the citizens of Sioux Falls? How many instances have we heard of Jolene doing these things. ZERO.

Paul TenHaken lacks the moral integrity to be mayor. He fits the mold of Mayor Mike Huether and eight years of that administration is enough. Join me in voting for Jolene Loetscher.

I have compared Paul to Mike on several occasions. Let’s face it. I told people about Mike before he was elected. He marketed one of the most predatory credit cards in the nation. The Feds changed the laws because of it. I told people, his actions as a professional will not change when he becomes a public official, and I was right. I feel the same about Paul. You can’t just flip a switch and become a person with integrity because you put your hand on a bible and took an oath. While I believe Paul and Jolene have similar experience in business and lack that similar experience in governing, the one thing that separates them is honesty, integrity and ethics. I think Loetscher has it, and I’m willing to live with her missteps starting out if I know she will do things in the open. We don’t need another corporate welfare lackey in City Hall, we don’t need another Huether.

15 Thoughts on “Integrity is what separates Loetscher from TenHaken

  1. I considered Jolene a slam dunk until yesterday. When she got caught trying to play the victim card one too many times, her chances vanished. That voicemail was exceptionally unthreatening.

  2. I am surprised this theme hasn’t been used more over the last three weeks. PTH is MMM, but with computer skills…

    No.

  4. People are completely glossing over Ten Haken’s public admission on Monday that the one line in his voicemail to Jolene she was concerned about referred to dirt he had on all the mayoral candidates. Those are his words. Her intuition, and reason for concern about the voicemail, was spot on and he confirmed it. When it’s your name on the ballot, that can feel like a threat, however gently delivered. When confronted by Loetscher, he spoke the truth (about the threat) and has been trying to walk it back ever since. It is not negative campaigning to stick up for yourself when someone boasts they’ve got dirt on you. It is not poor judgment to take your concerns about your family’s safety to law enforcement. Poor judgment is boasting about how you’ve got dirt on people but won’t use it, which sneakily still raises questions about them. Poor judgment is using questionable tactics to try unmasking a political opponent online instead of reaching out to law enforcement. At every turn Jolene has kept her word and used sound judgment. That’s the catch with transparency and good ethics though — context and perspective are required. Rendering judgment based on salacious, half-reported stories is dangerous. Please put a little trust in the candidate who has worked tirelessly since last summer, listening to people from every corner of Sioux Falls, many of whom have never been contacted by a political candidate before. We need to rally behind her over these closing days of the campaign!

Oh look who’s ad is up above the comments section. It’s Jolene Burdin, the snowflake who can’t listen to voicemails properly.
Nice job spending 45 seconds of your intro statement at the KELO debate talking about how you came here because of the job and met your husband at your job, violation of ethics? Can we see KELO’s policy on fraternizing with co-workers? HMMM.

  6. Mike – Those ads are not “placed” ads. They’re retargeting ads that are being shown to you by an ad network because you’re a likely Sioux Falls Voter.

The rest of this argument is totally baseless though. I don’t know how anyone could credibly claim that Jolene is the “integrity” candidate when she pitched the Argus Leader on a fake story about getting hacked (which the DCI says they see no evidence of) using a misconstrued voicemail as evidence.

You know it’s bad when Cory Myers from the Argus is calling you out for not being transparent.

  7. Was Jolene his boss?

Tell it like it is Detroit! Jolene has the backing of you, the Genius, Dan Daily and many of our greatest free thinkers! Down with the establishment! When I saw the endorsement from Downtown Vernon Brown, my mind was made up! I’m sick of people that think they can run government the ol’ fashioned way! Lets spread the love and all just get along! We need transparency!

Matt, that’s totally false. Marty Jackley’s office stepped in for your boy Ten Haken and demanded that update go out yesterday to make Jolene look bad. The investigation has barely even begun. You’re usually a pretty fair commenter, but this time you’re just flat wrong. The investigation has a long ways to go.

  10. Jolene straight up lied this week. How is she the candidate with integrity. I hope this blog is some big joke I’m not in on, but unfortunately I think you are just delusional.

Sure as shit, you would not want to cross Mike Gunn or Ken Anderson with any fucking email hacking.

  13. When I listened to tenhaken’s voice mail, two words came to mind: PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE.

This was confirmed for me when I saw his latest commercial last nite FEATURING eric mcdonald (ceo of docutap) and father of the young children who donated 5,000 to pth’s campaign.

  14. Lemming, what makes politics the “run government the ol’ fashioned way”?

The South Dakota and Sioux Falls power players with the BOOM TOWN developers are backing PTH the ol’ fashioned way so they can pretend everything is a okay, keeping the government running the ol’ fashioned way of Mike Huether.

We are set to have an administration continue running on secret deals and closed door processes. Thank goodness we have the makings of a strong City Council as it should be.

While Huether ran the city as a business, my fear is that TenHaken will run the city as a synod.
