Just another city weasel breaking the law.
I encourage ANYONE who has had to deal with the crooks in code enforcement with the city to go to this page and submit your story. I think they are planning a class action, but don’t quote me on that. Read the story, it is astonishing what these city weasels do, and the sad part, I have heard this story multiple times in every kind of income level neighborhoods. They break the law by trespassing on your property and taking photos, etc. If there is a complaint, they have to go to a judge and get a warrant to go on your property and inspect, or better yet, they need to knock on your door and ask, and you can refuse them.
It’s so hypocritical of a city employee to break laws so they can cite you. UFCKBEL . . . .
I have been talking to friends of ALL political stripes about the shooting in the cities and what is law enforcement’s roll in it. I have been saying it for years, because it is true, cops are trained to LIE. They lie on reports, they lie in the witness box and they lie to your face. All cops are, are professional liars and little else.
I also find it ironic that it took me 20 years to get the city to tear down MX, and they only did half of it and told me the rest was in compliance. BULLSH!T! There needs to be a thorough housecleaning in that department come June. Some councilors believe they just need to change some ordinances and it will all work itself out. Are you F’ing kidding me? You gotta cut out the rot.
We are in agreement that most city / county ordinances are in dire need of upgrade. How they are enforced reflects badly on the Supervisors or Dept. Heads but ultimately on this Mayor. He has always been reluctant to improve things, policy wise, that would reduce citizen complaints. It’s difficult to do that when your main focus is the downtown area while having blinders on for the rest of the city. So many of us are ready for the Mayoral election.
I have offered testimony and/or deposition at my expense in this matter. Unconstitutional city behavior must be addressed. Code enforcement is mere harassment. The city doesn’t allow appeals into court. They were reprimanded by State Supreme Court and changed but then changed back. City hearings are one sided in their favor. Code language doesn’t properly define offenses. There’s been enough cases now. Part of the next State Court opinion could now be a directive to replace the city charter. It’s time to restore democracy and afford citizens a voice with transparency. Trump doesn’t live here and Noem isn’t welcome back.
The city used their kangaroo hearings process against me for 8 years. Per ordinances was no violation. There were 4 hearings and several double jeopardy violations. They refused to consider my 35 evidence exhibits. Police knocked on my door a dozen times a year. Neighbor complaints my neighbors knew nothing about. No tickets or charges. I had to appeal to State Supreme Court on constitutional grounds for my case to be heard. I won. Cost me $41,000 litigation I was not reimbursed for. I’d do it again. This is a free country everywhere but Sioux Falls. Hard to believe they so much enjoy persecuting a disabled combat veteran.
“comply or die” will be code enforcement’s new motto.
“Say, who has jurisdiction supremacy if ICE and zoning both show up at your house at the same time while your Mexican gardner is tending to your illegal garden along the parking between the sidewalk and the street?” …. 🙁 #TheresaHELP!!!
While I sympathize, Sioux Falls is a redneck hellhole.
Noxious weeds have to be controlled per state law: https://sdlegislature.gov/Statutes/38-22
This hippy failed to control their thistles. Thistles spread like crazy and are hard to get rid of once established and chemicals are called for at that point. Just no real effective way to remove them.
Again, while I’m sympathetic, having a polinator garden doesn’t give you the right to create a noxious weed nursery.
It’s called society. Just like you can’t open an automotive repair shop in your garage, you can’t spread thistles all over the neighborhood.
‘This hippy failed to control their thistles.’
I grew up on a farm and we had thistles, you don’t spray because you kill everything else around it, including pasture grass. We used a spade and thru them in a paper leaf bag and burned them. That is how you get rid of thistles, you have to dig them up. But this isn’t about a couple of thistles or Monsanto’s dream to cover the entire world’s vegetation in chemicals and poisons, this is about city employees trespassing on someone’s property. If you had a problem with the thistle, grab a spade and help out the hippies.
