Did Bob ‘General’ Jamison change his name so he could run for council again? And is his son worried that people with more experience then him may be elected to the city council this spring?

Hi, I’m councilor Gregg Jamison, and I am a Progressive,  just ask me . . . or my daddy.

It seems a John McCain/Bob Jamison wannabe is running for city council in Sioux Falls;

Charlie Gaetze

Experience: former chairman of Davison County Republican Party, retired from Air Force and served on City of Mitchell beautification committee.

Three words that describe you: conservative, thoughtful, leader
Why should residents vote for you? “I think Sioux Falls is going to continue to grow and that growth really needs to be forecasted and directed rather than willie nillie.”

I about peed my pants reading his BIO. First off, beware Davison county Republicans (think Steve Sibson). Also, anyone who would call themselves a ‘Conservative’ and a ‘Leader’ in the same sentence obviously is out of touch with reality. Conservatives cannot grasp leadership, because leading means you want to move things forward, they want change, conservatism is about resisting change. But if that ignorance didn’t strike you, his last sentence will;

Events Center: Supports. “I think we have to move forward with something… If you think the tax on food is enough to take food out of your mouth, I would say you can stop smoking a cigarette.”

Oh, yes Charlie, because all poor people smoke, do drugs and are alchies’. Don’t you have a Teabag party to attend? I hope your opponent Clarence Kooistra hands you your ass on a silver platter in the election.

Oh, but the story gets better, Daddy’s boy, Gregggggg Jamison is worried that the next council will be less experienced because so many councilors are changing;

“The chance that a whole new group of people that could come in and be the majority is a threat to the status quo,” said Councilor Greg Jamison, who will remain on the council. “It’s just too many people at once. Too much of a shift of experience and knowledge.”

You are right, Greggo, I am worried to, considering that you and Kenny still don’t know WTF is going on, that will give us 6 councilors that need to find the rubber stamp that your daddy and Munson left behind. But his next statement really earns Jamison the ‘Hypocrite of the Day’ award.

With the new group, it’s a risk that they might not be as progressive as the current council, Jamison added. “We could see ourselves going backwards and be surpassed by surrounding communities instead of being the leader,” he said.

REAL progressives don’t have rubberstamps, don’t believe in taxing the shit out of the poor, don’t believe in helping the rich first and the working class second. Gregg, I hate to break you the news, but the current council, including yourself, ARE NOT FUCKING PROGRESSIVES!

Hey, Chuck, if SF is so great and progressive, why did you move to Flandreau?

The heck with the Lewis & Clark water project, we’ll get water from this stone and maybe a little extra moolah to build an events center

I love the hypocrisy of letter writers sometimes (Gargoyle Leader);

I have been watching with much interest during the past several months – and, in some cases, years – to the way Sioux Falls and its citizens have been responding to quality-of-life proposals being promoted by leaders in the community.

I lived in Sioux Falls when it was more like a village than a city. Now the town has grown into a city with much to offer those seeking to move to a progressive area with good jobs, the Washington Pavilion, golf courses, theaters, a proposed events center and much more.

Here’s a little advice, Chuckles, when you decide to move back to SF, pay property and retail taxes here, then you can give us advice on what is ‘best for us.’

It takes money to make money, and the events center will bring a lot of money to the city and its businesses. And you know what? That creates more good jobs.

I couldn’t agree more, but you can’t squeeze water out of a rock. The money needs to come from some place else besides retail taxes to fund this white elephant.

SF Mayoral candidate Huether vows to build the Events Center without raising taxes? Can’t wait to hear this one.

Mike ‘Events Center’ Huether

Word on the street is that Mike has been telling anyone who will listen that he will get the EC built without raising taxes, of course, as most politicians, he is short on details, BUT it is possible.

• You can have corporate sponsors pay for 33-50% of it.

• The bonds on the Pavilion and Convention center run out in a couple of years and you can convert that revenue over to paying down a bond on the new EC.

It’s tricky, but possible. I’m just wondering when Mike is gonna reveal his plan to the public? It is pretty obvious that the retail tax increase is going to fail, and fail hard. I have yet to talk to a legislator, journalist or citizen that supports the idea. Will Mike wait until Pierre takes a shit on it before he reveals his plans? Or will he wait for T. Denny Sanford to cut him a check? One wonders.

This is all Mike has to say about it on his site.
