The Gargoyle and their guest cartoonist, Daiker, had another ‘write your own caption’ toon. As you may know, our crass commentary on DaCola would probably not be allowed in the confines of such a fine newspaper, so write your own caption here, and say ‘Fuck You’ to the local media editorial mediocre; yhawkins@argusleader.com

Here is my rant;

“We’ve already dumped over $40 million of taxpayer money into this white elephant, I would think the parking would be FREE by now. Heck, you cops park for FREE at Mickey D’s or the AVERA Emergency parking lot (to eat free meals) all day long. What gives?!”

  1. I also find it interesting that every time they have done a survey at the Pavilion since the time it first opened, parking has been the number one bitch by the public. It has always been seen as cumbersome.

    This is what they say on their website:

    “Parking at the Pavilion
    The Pavilion is fortunate to have a Parking Ramp across the street to the east from the Wells Fargo CineDome. There is also metered-parking available on the west, north and east sides of the Pavilion. All street parking is free after 5:00 PM weekdays with ramp parking after 6:00 PM, and all the time on weekends. Visitors who plan on spending the day are encouraged to use the Parking Ramp. The General Fee for all day parking is $3.00.”

    So, we are “fortunate” to have parking ramps at $3.00 a day? Even though paying for parking drives away visitors?

    $3 to park all day is really, really cheap. Anyone who seriously complains about it should try and park their 1988 Buick in DT Chicago or MPLS sometime. Hell, even places like Tulsa and Omaha can be expensive.

    “And to think, all I’d need to park free here is a few thousand votes.”

  4. You are right, it is cheap. But why are we charging anything at all? I think you should be able to park for FREE at the Pav with your ticket stub from the science center or cinedome.

    I agree. There should be a designated lot/ramp and the Pavillion should validate.

  6. My caption for that cartoon:

    “Awwww… there goes ALL the available parking for the Event Center!”
