Whenever I see the above hat, shivers go down my spine. I know a lot of Vietnam vets, and they never have very happy stories about the war. However I find them to be deep in character, brotherhood and patriots when it comes to our country.
Honor all of those who have served their country.
A big shout-out to Billy Bob, Dan and Laddie. I’m glad to know you.
thanks for taking care of bb last night. he really enjoyed his dinner.
Good, even though it took FAUX-EVAH!
Thanks for acknowledging Vets here. Vietnam vets get good care from the VA now. Wasn’t always true. Time to also help returning Iraq & Afghanistan vets. Tears came to my eyes when I witnessed Vietnam vets assisting new vets at the VA hospital.
A few years back the state did a big show in Pierre for Vietnam vets memorial dedication. They gave out free hats that resemble the one here. I had tickets for free helicopter rides. A state employee dad & his 10 year old son sat on the grass in front of me. The boy watched the chopters intently with that ‘I wanna go’ look. I handed him my tickets. His dad thanked me over & over. I fly in helicopters often, then & now. They deserved those tickets. On the way walking back to the Am Legion bus a couple voiced they wished they had tickets to the concert. Another vet & I handed them ours. I think it was Fleetwood Mac. It was a perfect day until the fireworks started. Ask any vet, sounds like incoming mortars or AK-47’s. It was easy to recognize the combat vets. They were prone or behind something.
You Rock Dan! When are we going to Scarlett’s? I’ll bring the Ones!
