Rounds

At least Rounds flew himself to family shindigs

Governor Christie needed someone to fly him to his kid’s game. Hey, Chris, get your pilot’s license like Marion and fly yourself;

Gov. Chris Christie arrived at his son’s baseball game this afternoon aboard a State Police helicopter.

Right before the lineup cards were being exchanged on the field, a noise from above distracted the spectators as the 55-foot long helicopter buzzed over trees in left field, circled the outfield and landed in an adjacent football field. Christie disembarked from the helicopter and got into a black car with tinted windows that drove him about a 100 yards to the baseball field.

During the 5th inning, Christie and First Lady Mary Pat Christie got into the car, rode back to the helicopter and left the game. During a pitching change, play was stopped for a couple of minutes while the helicopter took off.

Chris must have stole a page from the Rounds administration.

One last dirty move by Marion Rounds

“Screw! Education. Who needs it?”

Could have seen this coming faster then a female Castlewood rancher with big hair and hoop earrings;

Rounds is proposing that they cut about $240 dollars in funding for every student, dropping the number from $4,804 dollars to $4,564 for each child’s education.

I have a better idea to save the state money; throw out all the elitist Republican politicians that have rewarded their friends and family over the years with jobs and no-bid contracts. We can’t do that, instead lets cut an already underfunded education system.

What a dirty move, but not surprising.

Is Rounds still lying about his state airplane fleet?

“When lying, do it with a wink and a smile.”

In response to my letter in the June 25 Argus Leader, Gov. Mike Rounds called me a liar in his letter in the July 10 Argus Leader. In my letter I stated federal transportation money was used to buy state airplanes. In his letter, Rounds said, “No federal transportation money has ever been used to buy state planes.” Governor, have you read the Oct. 21, 2007, Argus Leader article explaining the state’s 2007 purchase of a 1999 King Air 90 airplane for $1.9 million and its 2005 purchase of a 1995 King Air 90 for $1.5 million and how the $23 million of Amtrak reimbursement money the state received in 1997 helped in the purchase of those planes? Now that I’ve got your attention, governor, what happens to the Governor’s Club money when you leave office? How many planes does the state own and how much have we paid for them? What else, if anything, has the state done with the $23 million of Amtrak reimbursement money that was received?

It doesn’t surprise me that he continues to fib about the planes, what surprises me is that people continue to believe his bullshit.

King Rounds will continue to spread his BS all the way until the end

Pat, Pat, Pat myself on the back;

The governor said if lawmakers want to trim state spending, they must propose specific cuts to programs. He said he will not accept across-the-board cuts that call for agencies to provide the same level of services while reducing spending by a certain percentage.

The governor also chastised lawmakers who complain that the number of state employees has grown too much. He said many of those positions, the equivalent of 861 full-time employees, have been added at state universities to support increased student enrollment and research.

Define Many. I would be curious to know just what percentage of those 861 employees are working at the universities. Can anyone get me a link?

Oh, and the Republican and Democratic leadership are gearing up to make cuts (like they promise us every year);

Senate Republican Leader Dave Knudson of Sioux Falls said the governor proposed no new programs and is leaving it up to the Legislature to cut spending.

Senate Democratic Leader Scott Heidepriem of Sioux Falls criticized Rounds for not holding down spending in previous years and allowing the number of state employees to grow substantially. Democrats want across-the-board budget cuts.

Yeah, right. I’ll betcha my last dollar that both of these guys will vote for the 1 penny increase in sales taxes to build a new Events Center. Of course Dave has to vote for it, or he will be sleeping on the couch. “I can’t wait to increase the sales tax by one penny so we can build all kinds of things.” – Quen Be De Knudson
