I was told this is a smaller version of what was going to be done on the Bunker Ramp and some changes were made, but very little.
So I ask Mayor Poops the question, what is racist or inappropriate about this image? NOTHING. Heck, the most famous museum in the United States didn’t seem to have a problem with it. I have a feeling that the image wasn’t ‘vanilla’ enough.
Poops, your family nickname says it best, you are full of it.
Here is my drawing I did after I got descriptions of the mural, I am not off by to much, LOL.
They also have millions in reserves. So why are we still subsidizing them?
Just look at the executive salaries, the Director, Smith was making $164K just 5 years ago. So apparently while he was laying people off during Covid he continued his raises. Not bad for running a couple small theaters and an out dated science center.
We also throw millions each year in maintenance of the building (taxpayers own it) from the entertainment tax. While actual building repairs like a roof, windows, foundation, etc., should be covered by the owners any equipment purchases such as lighting or sound or anything that is NOT a permanent part of the building should be the Pavilion’s expense, and the council needs to change their maintenance contract with the Pavilion when they revoke the subsidy to reflect it.
The Pavilion has proven that they can float the boat on their own, so why don’t we let them?
I also heard a rumor that the Pavilion is planning a big concert at the end of summer at Great Bear. Not sure who will all play, but they have a $2 million dollar budget supposedly.
Season ticket holders of both teams have been telling me there is a push to move both sports teams to the newly minted Augie arena.
The Stampede I understand, but the Storm?
This is just a rumor at this point, but it was confirmed to me that the Denty management has been requesting they both find another venue because the teams block out good concert dates.
UPDATE II: I recommend that you read paragraphs 23-25 and 40-70. This is most of the COMPLAINT. The accusations made by the plaintiff must be proven if it goes to trial. I have a feeling the lawyers will hash this out before it goes to court. The plaintiff is asking for $1.5 million dollars, which I thought was low considering the accusations and lost business.
Upon information and belief, Mayor TenHaken sought retaliation against Sundance for seeking termination of the Restatement Agreement because accessible housing was a key tenet of TenHaken’s “2026 Housing Action Plan,” which was central to TenHaken’s 2022 reelection campaign. Originally pitched in 2019 as a $1 million fund that would help neighborhoods become or remain affordable, the City had yet to get money into the fund as of May 2021, with TenHaken saying the plan had missed its mark.
Well, it was only a matter of time before something like this happened;
I am awaiting more details (like the actual filing itself) but as I understand it from a source it involves the city withholding building occupancy permits for affordable housing units. Like I said, there are more moving parts.
VETERAN’S COMMUNITY GETS GRANT FROM LOWE’S
In a strange gifting agreement, Lowe’s charity wing of the company has gifted the tiny home community $300K, which is great, but what about some other worthy housing charities in town? Also, what happened to the agreement with the city? A councilor told me last week that since we were above and beyond our original agreement they have to rework the contract. We will see.
SOUTH DAKOTA ATTORNEY GENERAL CALLS FOR ASSISTANCE FROM SIOUX FALLS POLICE IN NEW JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT
Would have been nice to get a formal presentation on this (Item #38) which appears to be the SFPD bailing out DCI when they need to crack some drug dealing heads together. So is the state reimbursing the taxpayers of Sioux Falls for our assistance outside of city limits? And how does that even work? Of course the devil is likely in the details,read full document here.
CAULK JOB ON DENTY IS GOING TO BE F’ING SPENDY!
The line item above in the consent agenda is only for consulting and administrative costs. If you ballpark a normal 10% fee that would tell me the city is getting ready to buy about $500K in caulk to fix that POS tin can when their really needs to be an entire replacement. I wonder what the engineers will find? Is there enough caulk (lipstick) to make the Denty stop crying black chemical tears?
Speaking of that old rich fart, I see he surprised everyone last week with a gift to the Zoo of $25 million. As if it was going to be anyone else?! With a gift like that you would think they are building him some kind of permanent memorial . . . I know, I almost went there 🙂
In a rare Noem leadership moment it seems she has admitted to flubbing the National Guard response. In a short briefing just moments ago in front what appeared to be a gravel pit with the sound of a goat’s bell in the distance chiming she states;
“When I first made the decision to blame county commissioners for not sending out the National Guard, uh, I mean, tell people I’m short on cash, I mean, well, doesn’t matter I have decided to change course.”
One reporter asked if this has anything to do with the blowback she received because she sent the NG to Texas so why not to McCook?
“It had nothing to do with that, and once again the liberal legacy state media bias is bubbling up. I changed course because I realized the flood waters are stealing South Dakota jobs, smuggling drugs into our state (mostly fertilizer laced manure) and killing and raping our children. I have declared WAR on the flood waters.”
Noem quickly stormed off before taking any more questions with what appeared to be a trucker hat that read ‘MAKE SD DRY AGAIN’.
