I WIN! Most public input presentations in the past year!

Not that there was a contest, but I beat out some fierce competitors. Sorry Zombie Fighter Mayoral Candidate, beat yah. Sorry drug dealer fighter. You are toast. Oh, and I beat cameraman Bruce and the disgruntled veteran. I have had 26 public inputs in the past year. DOC: 2018-06-18 Public Input Frequency (data from city clerk’s office)

And this is why public input is VERY important!

Don’t let the city council buffalo you with ‘compromises’ and threatening certain ‘factions’ we need to keep things just the way they are.

I am just a regular person who watches my city government, and I have proven over the past year you can give the maximum of yourself to make sure our local government operates at it’s highest potential.

So please, step up to the podium and don’t let the very powerful 1% of our community control your lives, you hold that right, guaranteed by the US Constitution and 1st Amendment.

Our founding fathers were not naive, they made this precious gift #1 for a reason, because they knew the best ideas came from the members of this Republic and not behind closed doors by the monied elite.

UPDATE: Washington Pavilion delaying Annual Report AGAIN

UPDATE: Apparently the city received the 2017 financial report from the Pavilion a couple of weeks ago. So they must of had their annual meeting without little fanfare.

DOC: WP-2017-FS

As you can see they are up $490K from the year before. What I found interesting was that ticket sales were up $1.2 million from the year before, but expenses were up $1.1 million.

Well, you have to give them credit, they are staying consistent with last year.

But what makes the delay interesting is that there is a new sheriff at city hall. Mayor TenHaken is probably eye balls deep (or at least his COS is) in budget meetings. So how can you justify the yearly subsidy to the Pavilion and all the extra goodies they get from the entertainment tax when you have no idea how did last year?

Well the rumors are out there. I guess due to good ticket sales and fundraising they are up almost $500K. Maybe they are keeping that under wraps from the public so they keep their yearly subsidy? Not sure?

It would be wise for Mayor TenHaken to pressure the Pavilion to release that annual report before the budget hearings start. In other words RIGHT NOW.

Michelle Lavallee; Money & Connections

It’s no secret by now, if you want someone with a lot of money/contribution connections, you call Michelle. TenHaken did it when he ran for mayor and now Billie Sutton has summoned her.

While it’s great to bring someone on your campaign team who can help raise money, do you pick them as your running mate? How does a well-connected former Republican with ties to the healthcare and investment banking industry in South Dakota relate with working class Democrats, Independents and Republicans?

I don’t know.

I have often argued that the Democrats have a platform that stands up for these people. Worker rights, higher wages, education, health care, quality of life, etc. They don’t need to be ‘Republican Light’ to win over these kind of voters, they just need to get the message out. I guess we will see how this plays out in November.
