So the Pavilion, who is running the Lodge restaurant and bar at Jacobsen’s Plaza, has decided to go ‘cashless’. Not sure that is such a great idea considering a lot of people like to pay cash for a single cocktail or beer, but hey, I ain’t running the joint. So a compromise was to put in cash vending machines in the bathroom hallway (they also take credit cards). So I bought a pop with my debit card from the machine. According to the text on the machine there would be a 10 cent fee to use my card so the price would be $3.10. Well imagine my surprise when I just happened to look at my bank statement that night. They charged me $4.50! A $1.50 CC transaction fee! This is ridiculous. I already informed some city staff and hopefully they will address it.
There are two rules everyone should add here to in life: 1) Sneak candy into a theater, and 2) always come to a bar already drunk.
We are a nation that was founded by nickel and dime stores, but now we seem to be nickel-and-dimed all of the time.
AND, your ordeal sounds like an episode of ‘Seinfeld.’ I can imagine George experiencing this just after he was forced to buy a book at the bookstore that he had just taken into their public restroom.
Also, I can’t wait until they start charging us for swiping our cards, too, because our card doesn’t have tap capabilities.
Oh, and what is this new movement towards no receipts? Because without a receipt, they can really screw you. Personally, I always ask for a receipt because it’s either me killing trees or they’re wooding you.
Plus, I never carry cash, but that’s why I hold on to my old expired credit cards. Because, those are the ones I give to robbers and pickpocketers along with my fake wallet.
What worries me is Frank Dodd 2010. Banks can freeze your account using it to become solvent. You don’t get it back and FDIC insurance doesn’t apply. No wonder Trump is promoting cryptocurrency. Losing a few dollars on Coke not so bad. It’s real sugar and maybe soon real cocaine.
‘Yeah, fxck you!”…. ( …. “Hell, where’s Kricket’s memorial, huh?” ….. ) …..

I heard a rumor that Noem’s statue will be just like Rounds’ statue – that is near the Governor’s Mansion – except that Noem’s statue will have the shotgun pointed at the hunting dog:
