Last night while listening to testimony from immigrant activists, immigrants, and children of immigrants one thing was clear; what is happening right now in our country is horrible and riddled with misinformation, lies, and lots of RACISM. About a month before the presidential election, I knew Trump would win. I did the math 20 different ways from Tuesday and the result was always the same. No surprise. The Democrats, while having good intentions, have no follow thru, so while running against the most racist president since Jackson they put up a Black Woman which almost ended up dead last in the last Democratic presidential primary. To say the Dems F’d this past election up is an understatement. To hear all these immigrant horror stories is troubling, and not reflective of our Democratic Republic, which was built on the foundation of immigrants. As I had a lot of mixed emotions last night, after each speaker I kept circling back to why this happened; WE ELECTED TRUMP AS PRESIDENT. None of what is happening is surprising, and the hippie beads, tie-dye shirts and protests with flowers and handmade signs isn’t cutting it, the old way to battle the racist Republicans isn’t working anymore, and you have to fight fire with fire and play their silly reindeer games. But what I kept coming back to after each testimony is this question; ‘WHY THE FUCK DID WE ELECT A RACIST FOR PRESIDENT?’ Heck, even Black and Hispanic men voted for this clown in record numbers. We can point fingers at a lot of people, but I keep pointing my finger at the very people who showed up last night and those on the dais who voted for this rotten person at least once if not three times, YOU ARE TO BLAME FOR THIS SITUATION AND SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES. I LOATHE YOU! The racists got what they wanted and you played right into their hands. Do I think a majority of this country is racist? NO, but they certainly are ignorant and mis-informed to vote for a felon, sexual assaulting, racist (and perhaps pedophile) to the highest office in the land, you made this bed, and now you gotta sleep in it. It is hard for me to feel sorry for those on the dais who have played into this BS. I have struggled over the last 7 months, trying to come to grips with a voting public who is more concerned about the color of your skin and your immigration status then they are about saving a country. And there is more to come, a likely recession, high unemployment, homelessness, lack of healthcare, and the list goes on, all the while instituting a national sales tax (tariffs) on the ones that can least afford it.
(I updated the following paragraph)
After public input the Mayor told the speakers to take a moment while they leave the chambers, and in the hot microphone ‘someone’ on the dais says ‘THIS SUCKS!’ (FF: 4:44:15) While it was hard for me to determine who said it, I’m am pretty sure it was Curt Soehl. AND, It does suck Curt and Paul, and we can thank you for voting for this man likely three times while blindly standing at a press conference that stunk of racism and ignorance. It would have been like being invited to a Klan rally and when you attended you felt like you were mislead. You stepped in it big time, you are really living up to your nickname your daughter gave you. Poops tried to blame ‘misinformation’ before the presser as to why he showed. Gee, doesn’t it SUCK when someone isn’t transparent with you, how does it feel? It’s a gut punch when our government hides stuff from us, how does it feel when the shoe is on your feet? My assumption, whoever said this SUCKED, was a bit irked they had to sit there and listen to this, but you are part of the problem. While I commend all those who spoke last night, it was like a bear crapping in the woods, the officials didn’t hear a word you said, or cared. I am hoping this city and country wakes up before the next city election in June and the midterms in November, because this racist economic policy will be the death of this country, and when the smoke clears, we will be different, and not for the better. A light can never be seen in this darkness.
I also spoke on several other agenda items at the meeting last night.

So this shindig is going on Wednesday night at the 6 PM city council meeting;
This Wednesday at 6:00 PM, we’re going to fill the Sioux Falls City Council chambers in downtown Sioux Falls and demand our representatives exercise HOME RULE AUTHORITY to draw a line in the sand against government overreach with Governor Rhoden’s Operation Prairie Thunder program.
Basically the SD Dems are arguing since the city of Sux has a home rule charter they can tell Rhoden to go to Hell. Which is partially true on some matters. In fact the Mayor with the Council backing him could tell Rhoden that he cannot use our police force for immigration matters, and they wouldn’t even need to vote on it, the city attorney could just send a letter and the only recourse for Larry Buck would be to have the AG sue the city, which would be messy. Public input should be very entertaining. Public Input probably won’t happen until 8 PM.
But if you are a political leader in Sioux Falls and you agree with the Governor on this issue, then how is it a violation of home rule?
In this case, home rule is merely a mechanism and not a legal argument that holds any water in the potential indictment of the efficacy of Operation Prairie Thunder, which is what the Democrats are trying to do with this apparent strategy for Wednesday night’s council meeting.
If my fellow Democrats really want to win on this issue, then they need to start understanding how to the press the right narrative with this issue, which is that OPT is merely a political stunt by Rhoden as a part of his re-election bid, and that a successful OPT impact will only make the labor shortage in this state worse, which will then result in major inflationary impacts on the agricultural, meat packing, tourism, and construction industries of this state, and thus upon the consumer in South Dakota.
Obviously, many South Dakotans and especially Democrats, are upset about the audacity of OPT, but this is a time for Democrats to use their scholastic intelligence and not their emotional intelligence in an attempt to ward off this merely Keystone fascism that OPT illustrates.
By using the home rule argument with no mention of the negative economic consequences of OPT, the Democrats have allowed themselves to fall into a perception trap where they look like they are supportive of illegal immigration.
I also think that this is a classic example of how the Democratic Party continues to allow one of its constituencies to dictate the image and narrative of the overall Party, which then makes it easier for the other side to marginalize and identify the Democratic Party based on the intent and wishes of a given constituency within the Democratic Party that is single issue and whose narrative prevents the Party from dealing with these single issue constituency issues in a manner that more can relate to and answers to the greater theme of economic justice, economic sanity, and economic realism. which should always be the core arguments of any public Democratic narrative.
( and Woodstock adds: “Say, what if your wife is always telling you what to do, is that home rule?”….. 🙂 )
Thought the same thing as I read about this. I hope at minimum, this packs the room during Charter Revision Commission meetings this fall. You are correct, Home Rule does not give the city full authority on all matters. The Governor’s office still has the authority vested in it to maintain the public safety and ensure that each community is free of criminals, etc. That and you have the U.S Executive Office using its powers to defend the national borders all across federal territory, which includes the City of Sioux Falls, which would override the charter. We need to educate people on how our charter works, and does not work.
You are correct, you can’t stop Federal or State agents from arresting immigrants in Sioux Falls, but city PO’s don’t have to participate. Immigration enforcement is a Federal and State function and they can’t force local muni’s in participating. As for the economic impacts, it is already happening. I know of a immigrant owned business in town (not restaurant) and they told me they have lost half of their business since Trump took office and they have to lock their doors during business hours and customers have to buzz to get in because they fear the safety of their patrons. It is f’ing crazy! I still encourage people, try to use immigrant owned businesses as much as possible. Not only is the customer service better, when you spend your money at these businesses, the profits get recirculated in the community, when you buy a fart factory chicken strip meal at the latest franchise to crap on our town, that money goes straight to the corporate fat cats out of town.
Also a Federal agent told me recently that when they make immigration arrests in Sux they have to ship them to Omaha because our jails are full.
Gov Rhode has a dream of becoming a full fledged authoritarian leader, Jackley has a wet dream of being a new Dusty one in Wash and they will be using our city’s preacher under the guidance of Fiddle Faddle who knows how to suck up to all of them.
Dusty has a rather youthful appearance which makes me wonder if he has had a a wet dream experience, yet. Because to be a true leader, don’t you have to be kind of a dick?
Oh, and when is Tuby, I mean Toby going to be back on the air again, because I miss his Rob Ford qualities …. Maybe Bubbles could publicly endorse him, too, in the next run of commercials … Else, what about that auctioneer from “Storage Wars?” Because that guy looks like he could be Tuby, I mean Toby’s cousin.
On the other hand, this week’s South Park starring Kristi Noem was friggin’ hilarious.
Toby Keith died last year bro:

Ain’t talking about that Toby 🙂
Has anyone else taken a really good look at what Trump has done to the Oval Office? Generally, this would be a really good reason for an intervention, but why not this time? AND, then there is the Ceausescu edition to the East Wing of the White House that he wants to do. Frankly, this is all very troubling, if you ask me, and makes me question not only the veins in his legs, but what about the one to his brain?
A. B.
And That Toby is out here spending oodles of money early to develop name recognition in the race to be Governor. LOL.
Spend Tuby, spend…. See Tuby speed 😉
Trump has little regard for the constitution and rule of law. Authoritarian government seems inevitable. Democratic principles get trampled amidst what’s resembling Marshall law. Impeach Trump and he’ll disregard it like Clinton. There’s no way to restore government of, by, and for the people without a revolution. Perhaps another January 6th but this time The White House.
