I knew it was only a matter of time;
The City of Sioux Falls notified LSS South Dakota on Friday, December 19, that the City will no longer financially support the Multi-Cultural Center starting December 31.
The city has supported this institution for 28 years. The yearly grant is $146K. Is it a lot of money? Sure, but just last week the council OK’d a social media contract for $100K with NO objections from council. So the money is there.
I think the city is doing this with pressure from the Governor’s office and ultimately DHS. Notice most of the services are for immigrants. I will agree with the city on one thing, the city really shouldn’t be funding the center, it should be funded thru the state, school district, county and Feds, but as I have told councilors in the past, while the money comes out of different buckets, we are all paying into those buckets, so does it really matter?
This is just racist policies coming down from DC and Pierre because the city knows they can afford this for decades to come. I guess if I was walking out of office in June, the last thing I would want my legacy is being a RACIST. There really is no other way to look at this. The city has the money and has funded this for almost 3 decades! This is not an economic decision. So I guess Trump, Noem and Rhoden are running Sioux Falls under white hoods.
This is the tip of the iceberg. MANY non-profits received this same lump of coal with no warning. It’s just that LSS was the first to go public. Local media needs to do some more digging.
The council and mayor’s office couldn’t have handled this any worse. A step down approach over a couple years could have allowed most of these programs to continue while they searched for alternative funding. Instead, they’ve had the rug pulled out from under them with our most vulnerable citizens left to suffer the consequences.
Trump’s popularity might be hovering around 36 to 43 percent, but if you do the math then that means that a comfortable majority of whites still back him.
The one thing that Trump has been authentic about, and delivers on, is racism.
Many years ago James Carville dubbed the phrase: “It’s the economy, stupid!” Today, however, for the Republicans, their mantra to stay electorally relevant is: “It’s racism, stupid!”
Why any person of color would ever support Trump I will never understand. Having a person of color support Trump is like asking your boss to come over to your house to have sex with your spouse.
There is a great cancer in our land right now, that is driven by a madness, which is well funded and very dark in its intentions. The recent renaming of the Kennedy Center speaks of more than ego, rather it speaks highly of an attempt to evoke, in order, to hopefully further control us via our reactions to the madness around us. Don’t fall for the trap, however, but be ready to rebuilt when it falls, though, and it will in time. Trump is making karma build overtime right now with anticipation, but when it explodes, with its response, the darkness will dissipate and the people of all colors will rise again to trample this current mad darkness which some naively claim to be a greatness due to their inherent racist proclivities.
