This is what the Chilean Miners had to look at everyday for two months (Photo Credit:Â Jonathan Garcia)
I was very disappointed that I missed this gem on Stormland TV;
It took us about eight minutes to go 1,000 feet in this elevator, and it takes the Chilean miners about 15 to 20 minutes to go up their elevator shaft from the mine. So, the elevator in the KELO tower travels at about the same speed as that one in Chile because it would take about 16 minutes to go all the way to the top of the 2,000 foot tower.
What’s that saying about Apples and Oranges? Nevermind.
I’ve gone up similar tower elevators. The parabola shaped TV tower in San Francisco you see on postcards is the scariest. It goes up an outside leg. From the middle to the top, you’re facing down with straps struggling to hold you in. Feels like freefall before the parachute opens.
Pretty Rockin!
