Holey Gee Moley! And you thought I was critical of the Argus Endorser

I totally agree. 110% with this letter writer. I was so annoyed by the mentioned BJ article I didn’t even bother to waste my valuable blogging time on it, until now;

Why didn’t Walker tell us the whole story? I think I understand why: It would have required performing the work of an actual journalist.

The blame for this affront to journalism ultimately rests with the Argus Leader. This love letter to Giebink belonged in a tabloid, not a legitimate news outlet.

WOW! That line is worse then forcing you to use truck stop toilet paper for a year straight.*

*Or a women’s prison toilet paper . . .

Can the Arena be remodeled? Seems so.

While I have said all along (in the Events Center debate) all we need to do is remodel the Arena, the biggest argument against it has been that the Arena is not expandable, or is that the impression the city and new Events Center supporters want us to think?

I was told in the past that the shell is solid, but cannot be deviated for expansion, we could only change the interior.

Is this true? I’m starting to wonder. If possible, could we add another 2,500-3,000 seats to the Arena at a smaller price tag? Not sure, but I do know this;

According to a South DaCola foot soldier, the original contractor designed and built the facility for expansion to the North side. In other words, the North wall could be removed and expanded. We could also easily attach bars and restaurants to the outer edges of the facility and build a parking ramp in the current parking lot.

So my question is this? Why is this all being swept under the rug? Why do we need to build a whole new facility when we can simply remodel, fix acoustics and add seating? Heck, even rename the joint, if it will make you feel better.

Good freaking question.

The Velvet Hammer Vernon Brown; wrong again

(Image; KELO-TV Screenshot)

Here we go again, Vernon Brown defending spending tax dollars on the Zoo. This broken record is getting older then my monkey crapper jokes;

“Today when we fund the zoo, it’s coming out of our general fund, which would normally fund street repairs, police and things like that.  Philosophically, the zoo should be funded with an entertainment tax,” city council member Vernon Brown said.

Philosophically it SHOULD NOT BE FUNDED BY ANY TAXES! Vernon will fight tooth and nail to not provide a service like snowgates (even though a majority of taxpayers support there use) then turn around and complain that the zoo isn’t getting there ‘piece of their (Banana Creme) pie.’

It’s time to get the zoo off of the city’s books and hand it over to a private non-profit. I would even suggest that the city gifts the property to them, and cut our losses. Is the Zoo good for our community? Yes. Should we fund it? No.

Mayor Huether, about as transparent as a concrete block

I’ll let Jen Holsen address this one. (Read the AL article);

Remember when the mayor said he was going to provide the most transparent government we have ever seen and that he is going to tell the public the good, the bad and the ugly?  I guess it depends on the circumstances.

Funny how the mayor has no quotes for the AL column? I guess he only speaks when the city is being ‘transparent’ otherwise he throws in his whipping boy, Cotter.

The Argus Leader requested the list of those events centers, but the city refused to provide it because it was deemed confidential information from Populous.

“The fact that it’s stamped confidential, I have to maintain that for them,” Cotter said.

Well fucking un-stamp it! Jeeeeezzzz!
