South Dacola Music Club with John Hiatt

Though not as well known as Bob Dylan or Tom Waits, John Hiatt has written and performed some of the best songs of the last few decades. His songs span the genres from alt. country to rock, to folk, to blues and R&B. He’s kind of one of those guys whose songs you recognize, but can’t think of the artist.

Here are a few essentials for the uninitiated:

Perfectly Good Guitar

Master of Disaster (the Dude’s personal favorite, though I think the album version is better)

Slow Turning

Thunderbird

Have a Little Faith

Feels Like Rain

Tennessee Plates

Dust Down a Country Road

Watch the videos, listen to the songs elsewhere, and I’m sure you’ll agree with me. John Hiatt is one of the greatest American singer-songwriters ever.

South DaCola’s Big Frickin’ art auction, well becuz, I am broke

For the next couple of weeks I will be featuring paintings I have FOR SALE. I will be selling them for BEST OFFER unless otherwise noted (some of them are in galleries – and prices are set). You can leave you bid in the comments section, and if your bid wins, you can email me. I will start with the one below, which is currently at the Washington Pavilion in the Everist Gallery through December. I think I have it marked for $1,000.

Immature? Unacceptable? Illegal? Sure. Funny? Hell Yah.

RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER

First I’m gonna kill you. Then I am gonna dress you like a clown and leave you on someones porch.

You can’t make this Sh’t up.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) – You’ll never see this clown in the circus.

Animal control officers in Sioux City say someone dressed a dead deer in a clown suit and wig and put it on a family’s porch.

Officers suspect it was a prank, considering Halloween is approaching, but they say it’s not funny, safe or acceptable.

The deer was discovered Wednesday morning.

Animal Control Officer Jake Appel says it’s immature and illegal. He says a dead animal shouldn’t be left on someone’s porch and should be disposed of properly.

Sioux City police have not opened an investigation.

But they did have a jerky feed.
