And why are we allowing Senator Ensign to vote on healthcare reform?

Untitled-1

I guess I really don’t care who senators bang, even if it is not their wives Flashbacks of a Fool movie download RoboCop 3 movie download . Heck I don’t care if they pay hush money (cough . . . Alexander Hamilton . . . cough) or promise jobs in attempt at a coverup. But what bugs me is we let these snakes vote on one of the most important legislative issues of our time;

WASHINGTON — The Justice Department and the Senate Ethics Committee are expected to conduct preliminary inquiries into whether Senator John Ensign violated federal law or ethics rules as part of an effort to conceal an affair with the wife of an aide, current and former officials said Friday.

The inquiries will most likely examine whether Mr. Ensign, a Nevada Republican, or Douglas Hampton, his one-time administrative assistant, broke the law after Mr. Hampton, immediately upon leaving his Congressional job last year, began to lobby Mr. Ensign’s office. Mr. Hampton, as a senior aide, was subject to a one-year lobbying ban, lawyers who specialize in ethics law said.

How can we guarantee Senator Ensign’s vote on healthcare reform was genuine when he can’t even bother to follow one of the simplest ethics rules in the senate; DON’T WORK AS A LOBBYIST FOR AT LEAST A YEAR.

It’s SHARK WEEK in Washington featuring Sioux Falls hottie, January Jones (H/T- Helga)

Add some prairie dog gizzards to this shark fin soup, and you will really have a treat

Not sure how talking to Tim Johnson about shark finning is going to do any good since we border no oceans. I suggest January take up another endangered species like Prairie Dogs 🙂

January Jones, who plays the character Betty Draper on the TV show Mad Men went to Washington DC to talk to legislators about her favorite cause: ending shark finning. Shark finning is a practice where fishermen cut off a shark’s fin and throw the shark back into the water, often while it’s still alive. Though illegal, there are loopholes — and Jones showed up in DC to lobby for legislation that would strengthen the law.

Several Senators made time to talk to the star about the issue, including New Jersey’s Frank Lautenberg and South Dakota’s Tim Johnson. She also got a meeting with former presidential candidate John McCain, who tweeted afterward:

“Great meeting and tour of the Capitol with January Jones, who is an advocate for sharks. I’m a huge fan of Mad Men!”

41% of home sales in Sux Falls were due to tax incentive

Dumpy_house

This comes as no surprise. I had a long conversation with a friend about this the other day. We were standing on her front driveway and she was pointing at all the homes in her neighborhood that were bought over the past month by young people, she suspected this was because of the tax credit. My neighbor sold his house to a first time homebuyer in 5 DAYS!

Sales and homebuilding are being fueled in part by a federal government tax-credit of up to $8,000.

In Sioux Falls, first-time homebuyers accounted for 41 percent of the sales in August, said Barton Hacker, chief executive officer of the Realtor Association of the Sioux Empire.

We’ll see what happens after this credit is over with. I suspect you will see a dramatic drop in home sales. I hope realtors are smart enough to open a savings account.
