UPDATED: Let the battle royal begin!

UPDATED: I was just told by the city clerk’s office there would be NO public input at this meeting,

“The Special Meeting is for a specific purpose and only covers those specific meeting topic(s).  The election of the chair and vice chair is an internal election among the eight Council Members to elect their own leadership.  No public input will be held on this item.”

I find this unfortunate that the public is not allowed to have a voice about the election of their council leadership.

Well not really. I have received no NEW information concerning SF City Council’s special Monday night meeting to elect chair and vice chair.

As it sits now only two councilors are vying for the two seats;

Michelle Erpenbach, Chair

Jim Entenman, Vice-Chair

I would like to essentially see Kenny Anderson Jr. as Chair and Kermit Staggers as Vice-chair. Obviously neither has the votes, but that may not be the real issue, it may come down to having the desire to serve in these positions.

As I understand it the new Chair and Vice-Chair will have a lot more duties (and have to spend a lot more time) then the other councilors due to the newly formed Operations and Legislative committees. (See document): operations-com

It’s unfortunate we had to replace a very talented city employee who wore many hats, with a multitude of committees, more council employees and more red tape.

I hope councilor Entenman understands his new role as Vice-Chair requires him to show up to some of these committee meetings, if not all of them. So I am asking ALL travel agents in Sioux Falls to not bug him over the next year, he’s got more important things to do besides building sand castles.

The ‘Real’ drama comes from the mayor

Had to chuckle after watching this interview on KSFY last night. Towards the end of the Staggers/Huether interview, Mike says he doesn’t like ‘Drama’;

“I am not a big fan of gamesmanship. I don’t like posturing. I don’t like the politics, you know, if you’re just going to grandstand, that is not good.” Mayor Huether says he is not a political bully and is always open to discussing differences with council members, he says Kermit Staggers will be no exception.
But Huether makes it clear; he expects Staggers to work for the city and to work with him…not against him…and that he does not want drama at Carnegie Town Hall. “Lets leave the grand standing and the politics to Washington DC. You see what those folks are doing out there and you see the anxiety and the stress that its caused the people of our state and our country. Lets leave that crap out there in DC. We have stuff we want to get done in our town.”

You mean, like crying in front of the cameras? Is that the kind of ‘Drama’ you are talking about? Let’s talk about crap, there should be a boot scrape outside your office so people can clean their shoes when they leave.

UPDATED: KELO confirms my casino theory

UPDATE: I had a convo with a city official yesterday and they brought up an interesting point, “Who told Royal River to keep quiet about this plan until after the Events Center vote?”

Glad to see someone is checking into these things;

According to documents obtained this week by KELOLAND News the tribe approach city leaders last year with a proposal to build a 1600 slot machine, 100,000 square foot casino in Sioux Falls. The tribe’s proposal shows the City of Sioux Falls would share nearly $9 million a year in revenue, which is the exact amount the city will pay every year for the events center.

I also got another tip in the naming rights debacle, well kinda, one of the interested parties basically cannot deny or confirm they submitted a proposal because of a disclosures. So for now, we wait.

(not such an) Ugly Table #66

“Who even has a body like that?!”

Okay, you often see images of models in the grocery store magazines, and think to yourself, “This shit doesn’t exist in real life.”

Well, tonight, I saw it.

I won’t even describe the outfit (which was modest to a point), or the girl’s body, that’s for some smutty magazine.

But when I pointed her out to one of my (Male) co-workers, he titled this piece.
