So the latest poll is out. Guess what? Mr. Scandal and do nothing Snow queen government subsidy are neck and neck. Why? Because they both have a slobbering horse greasy ‘R’ behind their names and Republicans are freaking out. It’s like the poster my step dad posted to our rusted out frig one day that had a cartoon rooster on it saying, “I’m so confused I don’t know which way to point my pecker.”

You mean in the primary I can’t vote AGAINST an evil abortion loving Democrat?! What gives? Now they have to make a decision between two Republicans and it’s the most difficult decision in their lives.

Can’t we just flip a coin?

Maybe we can have Trump decide?

Either way we won’t get a respectable candidate. That’s ok, in November just vote Sutton.

14 Thoughts on “South Dakota Republicans upset there isn’t an evil Dem to vote against

  1. Suttonly, it looks like Billy…..

This race reminds me of the George S. Mickelson versus Clint Roberts ’86 gubernatorial bid. Except, this time there are only two Republicans in the race – meaning the voters will decide – and there is no need for a state convention to make the final right decision to protect the Party brand name.

Although, Mickelson won that primary – just barely – without the help of a state convention of cigar smoking operators, Mickelson was better poised to defeat Lars Herseth in the fall than Roberts, so the GOP lucked out on that one. But this time, just as Jackley seems more poised to beat Sutton in the fall than Noem. It appears, however, this time the Roberts in the race, or should we say the Noem in the race, might win this primary fight; and then add a little negativity between Marty and Kristi, which is reminiscent of 2002 and Kirby versus Barnet with Rounds becoming the true victor of that fight, and this time, the true victor could be the Democrat Sutton, but instead in the fall.

Back in ’83, in the age of Mickelson and Roberts, the Motels had a song entitled, “Suddenly Last Summer.” Perhaps, a song should be written now entitled, “Suttonly Last Summer.” Because, this time it could be Sutton in the fall thanks to a last summer, where the Republicans end up finding themselves looking for a motel as they lose the keys to a particular mansion…. In fact, some of the lyrics of the Motel song sound like forty years of Republican dominance coming to an end, if you ask me:

“A place for a moment, an end to dream”

“It keeps me standing still, it takes all my will”

“Sometimes I stay too long, sometimes I would
    Sometimes it…”

We have the most delusional character ever as the POTUS. All of SD’s republican candidates proudly use the trumpster fire in their tv and radio ads. That alone speaks volumes to the moral capacity of our nation, and our state. The argus reported today that our pu$$y grabber in command holds a 75% popularity amongst republican registered voters. What exactly does that say about the state of the evangelical Christians amongst us?

  4. This has to be the most ridiculous thing you’ve ever posted. We’re mad we can’t vote against a democrat in our primary?? Uh, we’re aware it’s a primary. Who ever wins our primary will crush your also ran in the general.

There are sore spots for Jackley as AG. EB-5 corruption and the prejudice case he stretched into 7 years but eventually lost. I didn’t like him bringing the internet sales tax into Supreme Court. It jeopardized state income tax free status. Anti-Noem commercials bring forth general statements that would be hard to prove. Jackley’s record speaks for itself. Noem is a better choice.

Jon, Sarcasm my friend. My point is the Republicans don’t have a ‘boogey man’ to vote against since Noem and Jackley are both popular.

matt Johnson: yes, you have it right – “any one (sic) with an R- not respectable”. Refer to comment #3 above from Warren Phear. Any Republican elected official who does not rebuke the current Liar In Chief demagogue… is a spineless hypocrite who has no interest in protecting democracy.

I come to this site regularly to read the opinion of our more liberal leaning folks in the state. I think this is one of the dumbest things I have seen on here yet and the comments are the best. I don’t like either Republican candidate but, dude its a primary, not a general so no democrats to “rage” against. I think most people are sick of the D and R parties because they do not represent the people. Most folks want government out of their lives, everything they touch gets screwed up and corrupted. Career politicians are the worst thing to happen in this state and to our country in the last 30+ years. I think the biggest issue most conservative minded people have against the Democrat/Liberal base is the assault the party has on family values and the need to put feelings over fact and laws. Illegal immigration should not even be a discussion point, if you come here illegally you are out but, the Liberal base in this country are for open borders. We are not blind though to our own sides failures, we don’t see the need to pollute are environment for the sake of 30 cents off gas and it pisses me off we can’t have common sense laws and discussion about stuff like that. Gun control is another issue liberals need to lay off. Guns don’t kill people, people do. We NEVER had this problem up until about 20 or so years ago and I attribute it to the lack of morals in people and the blatant disregard for life. You cannot legislate evil and imposing restrictions on law abiding citizens does not solve the problem and criminals don’t care. I do like this site and I do like to read the articles and I am open minded but, I am awe of how most on this site refuse to even listen to conservative points of view and even acknowledge there is another point of view.

  11. R “VSG,”

I can’t speak for Scott, but a site is only as liberal or conservative as the commenters allow it to be, so the fault is not with blog owner, rather its with the commenters or sideline potential commenters who choose to not comment.

Now you speak of “family values,” so let me guess, you don’t have a problem then with conservative Trump’s “mulligans?”

If you don’t like government, then its your responsibility to run for office or at least to actively support a candidate you like; because contrary to what Reagan once alluded to, the government is us, we are the government.

As far as illegal immigration, I would admit that the whole thing is a mess, but its a mess because conservatives wanted cheap labor and liberals wanted potential voters. You can’t just blame liberals on this one….

In terms of the environment, well, if conservatives want to take a lead on that issue, as you suggest, it would probably help if your crowd rediscovered science and facts.

And as far as guns are concerned, you are wrong. Guns do kill people. There is a reason that assault weapons appear to be the weapon of choice in most instances when it comes to mass shootings. There use to be a commercial, which said that 9 out of 10 dentist prefer Crest toothpaste. Well, I am afraid that 9 out of 10 or better assailants appear to choose assault rifles over knives or trucks, too.

As far as your concern for morals, well, maybe we should start with Trump and ask our conservative friends if he is really an example we want in the Oval office for young Americans to admire; and you can’t blame Trump on liberals.

If we are talking facts, lets talk gun facts. First and foremost there is no such thing as an “Assult Weapon” Its a made up term by gun control advocates. We have had a ban on fully automatic weapons since 1986 unless the item was previously owned/grandfathered in. All guns you can buy today fall into 2 groups, semi-automatic or manual. Semiautomatic types are MOST guns out there, handguns, rifles, etc. Manual loading guns are bolt action rifles or most shotguns where you need to pump it to get a shell loaded. The AR-15 is a very popular weapon and it functions like ANY other semi-automatic weapon it fires as fast as you can pull the trigger. This functions just like a handgun or ANY rifle with a clip. AR does not stand for Assualt Rifle or Automatic Rifle, it stans for Arma-lite Rifle which was the first company back in the 50s to make this sort of weapon. The AR-15 shoots a 223/5.56 round just like hundreds of other rifles and it semiautomatic with a clip like many many many of its counterparts. Just because a weapon is popular to buy does not make it anymore or less dangerous. Mass Shootings are a sad thing but, they count for such a small overall number of deaths it barely registers. 97% of gun murders are committed by handguns each year. In the Liberal bastion of Chicago, there are 30-40 shootings a week and they have some of the toughest gun laws in the US and laws just don’t seem to stop this type of bloodshed. We get outraged when some whack job shoots up a school but when cities like Chicago have murder rates as high as we do we don’t seem as up on arms. My guess is because these so-called gun laws do not work. Criminals do not care about laws and taking away rights is not the answer and it never will be. it’s almost impossible to own a gun in Mexico yet people are slaughtered regularly and the law-abiding citizens cannot own a weapon to protect themselves and criminals do not care. Most violent places in the world have strict gun laws but, that does not stop the evil. We have outlawed drugs and that is not stopping it from wreaking havoc and killing innocent folks. The moral to the story is simple, no one should be able to tell me I cannot protect myself and I should be able to purchase a gun if I with reasonable background checks to make sure I am not a nut. If liberals used logic and facts when looking at this stuff you would see people who want to do bad will, don’t mess with my rights. I was somewhat anti-gun, even though I am former military, of having one in my home. I changed my mind 2 years ago after a group of men tried to break into my home when I was home with my wife and 2 kids. Cops would not have been here in time to help if they had gotten into the house through the garage door. Thank god I had a deadbolt on my door to the house from the garage. I decided it was time for a gun and a security system because criminals do not care.

Science is another subject I like, I wish liberals would follow their own “science and facts” all the time and not just when it suits their own argument. Feeling like you are a woman but, biologically a man does not make you a woman. There are only 2 sexes, male or female, sciences says so. You cannot, no matter how much surgery you have you cannot change your sex. Now I believe you have the right to do whatever you want but, you cannot change the facts.

I know global warming will be your next topic to tackle and I personally do not believe in it as it’s NOT settled science. I believe it may be the biggest hoax perpetrated and my reasoning is simple. All these fake ass liberals who trot around the globe in their private jets to talk about it. If they were serious about it they would fly commercial and limit their carbon footprint. At the annual Davos meeting in Switzerland, this year over 1000 private planes and helicopters were flown in on and a major topic was climate change. The Paris accords we withdrew from had pollution exemptions for China and India until like 2030 or some shit, who are the two largest polluters in the world. My last bit of evidence is the simple fact that banks are investing in waterfront property on Oceans all around the globe despite what Al Gore says about ocean levels rising 10 feet. Lets also not forget instead of calling it global warming its not climate change because the data coming in now is that the earth is cooling. If it was accepted science everyone would be on board including me. Like I said in my previous post I think we can all live with a little more pain if means NOT polluting but, this carbon emission stuff seems like crap and instead of listening to the so-called experts and authority, watch what they do. The buy property on the ocean and fly private, and live in huge mansions and I bet they are not using windmills and solar to power that stuff. Watch what they do NOT what they say and follow the money.

  14. MJ, Obama’s lie gave health care to millions. Bush43’s lie has killed how many with the continual war?

    B c,

What you want to call guns is academic at best, because regardless, guns do kill people…

Chicago and Illinois cannot solve the problem themselves as long as its rather easy to cross state lines to buy a gun.

You mention Mexico, where do you think most of the guns are coming from?…. That’s right the U.S.

You don’t believe in global warming due to carbon? Well, you are in disagreement with a vast percentage of scientists that do and these same scientists to a vast percentage do not have private planes nor own coastal property…

As a post script, I just keep getting a kick out of all of the one time commenters that come out of the woodwork whenever we start talking about guns on this blog site…. They’re like the geese on the bike trail when you get to close to their babes….. Don’t worry mama, everything is going to be okay….
