City of Sioux Falls Tidbits

After an incident over the weekend where SFPOs were caught cussing out suspects, the Chief of Police claims there is nothing to see, move along. As I have been saying for years, further proof we need body cams, but as he said last week, no policy changes. Shocker. They also need some diversity training and paid physical fitness time.

Sales taxes are in the crapper, but no surprise. As about 15% of the workforce in Sioux Falls lost their jobs and nobody was spending any money – we saw this coming. I just hope the budget hearings that start tomorrow prepare for this.

Speaking of money, the city could get up to $41 million in Covid money but Mayor Multi-task doesn’t think we need it. The covid crisis is far from over, and as you noticed, the cases in SD remain on an even keel and are NOT going down. If this continues into the fall and winter, we may need some of that money to combat the crisis further. Nothing wrong with planning ahead, wait, this administration doesn’t know what that means. Let’s just keep the libraries and pools closed, that’s the ticket! The Public Transit board met today but no one really knows what is on the agenda because it wasn’t posted on the agenda page. Of course this is a violation of open meetings laws not having the agenda posted (except in this mysterious zoom document). But they have been violating those rules for a couple of years now, why do anything differently?

41 Million, that’s a righteous amount. Mayor no tie is truly blind if he thinks we do not need it. Some could be used for crisis events that will happen, we all know he doesn’t like to be proactive. Or put some towards the horrible streets in this city. There are just countless uses for this. I’m sure some of you have ideas as well. When will he wake up?

Apparently, there weren’t rocks nearby to channel them to.

We don’t need the $41 million? We have been here before, have we not? Remember when some did not want to take FEMA money for the 2013 ice storm?

You watch, Trump will try to take credit for the second wave not happening, but that’s because the first wave has still not subsided.

Sounds like the next mayor will get elected for promising body cameras. Meanwhile, incidents must be videoed with private cell phones. With the mall, bars, and restaurants closed two months I can’t believe there’s not a budget shortfall.

“Yah, we never flattened the curve”…. “Instead we have just plateaued it at a high level”….

Mayor Child of God is going to keep preaching to his flock as the flock dies for lack of actually doing his planning homework? No money needed for planning? No money needed to protect the flock? What a worthless excuse for a mayor.

Yesterday, I wanted to view the agenda for the PTAB (Public Transit Advisory Board) meeting ON THE TAXPAYERS’ WEBSITE (siouxfalls.org).

I could not access it!! You needed a special code that was only provided to the PTAB Board.

Tell me WHY I have to jump through hoops to access a public meeting that is governed by South Dakota Open Meetings Law?!!!!!!!!!

Why not take some of that $41 million to put new siding on the Events Center? Heck, Janklow once wanted to use tobacco money to place a new permanent steel roof on the Dakota Dome.
