We can yell and scream all we want at each other about whether abortion is ethical or not, but the facts are simple, the 72-hour forced counseling legislature isn’t really needed;

He (Dr. Buehner) said he goes through 25 pages of paperwork with a woman seeking an abortion, including a section requiring her signature on each of 13 pages.

I have to tell them they’re terminating the life of a whole, unique, separate human being. I have to tell them they’re terminating a constitutional relationship with an unborn child. I have to tell them about suicide risk,” Buehner said.

Like I have said before, women don’t just walk into an abortion clinic, get an abortion, and walk out 10 minutes later. HB 1217 is an attempt to limit abortions in our state by making them more difficult to attain, that’s it. It doesn’t help the women seeking an abortion, it only complicates their lives even more, and it certainly doesn’t help the unborn.

Roger, you really need to get a hobby.

6 Thoughts on “Forget the debate, HB 1217 isn’t really needed

  1. somehow the alpha center got my cell phone number, and sent me a text telling me to call pierre to then them to vote to save lives.

  2. Same thing with me Scott…. not happy about it either. I don’t recall giving anyone permission to send me text messages on my phone – especially a private group.

    There hasn’t been enough digging on the theory that this bill is a stealth abortion ban that doesn’t challenge Roe v. Wade but bypasses it. The bill is requiring an abortion patient to get confirmation that they received counseling by an ANTI-abortion group. Why in the hell would anyone who works for an ANTI-abortion group provide the patient with that confirmation, knowing that withholding it will prevent the abortion. Because it’s obstruction by a private group, Roe v. Wade doesn’t apply. Practically, it’s the same as the state allowing abortion protestors to physically block the clinic. This bill is a de facto abortion ban because no one will be able to complete the mandatory counseling step.

  4. This morning I got a call from Dr. Allen Unruh, calling for the Alpha Center. Actually it was an automated call, say it was him. I really wish if pollsters are going to call me they would do it in person so I could explain my answers. They also wouldn’t have to ask if I was male or female. I also like to give live pollsters a hard time, try to confuse them. On the evening news tonight, it sounded like the stupid bill stands a good chance of passing. I can’t figure out how the legislature can think women are too stupid to think for themselves.

  5. Like I said above, we can debate abortion until we are blue in the face. But this bill isn’t really needed. But waht angers me even more is that our kookbag legislators waste their time on this shit when they should be working on the budget.

    Perhaps everyone could call Unruh’s office and tell him what they think about his astroturf calls.
