Staggers’ SUPER FRIENDS

On the non-free online local newspaper’s show (4/17), 100 Eyes, managing editor Patrick Lalley suggested that he wanted to come up with a name for Stagger’s hardcore supporters like “Ehrisman and Stehly”. One of the commenters suggested the ‘Legion of Doom’.

So I challenge my readers to come up with a monicker for Stagger’s supporters. And to make this even more interesting an appropriate name for the 100 Eyes show with host Patrick ‘ ______’ Lalley

Someone else’s fault

I received new information today that the school district employee that was thrown under the bus at Monday’s SF city council informational meeting was probably not surprised by the accusations. The city has a reputation of blaming others when things go awry in city elections.

Here is some crucial information to keep in mind;

1) It was not the school official’s MAIN job or priority to deliver ballots to precincts (only to assist). Which makes sense. The city and school district hires people to help with elections. Directors and managers (and city councilors) should NOT be doing that stuff, they should be directing and managing.

2) They did not have that many ballots in their vehicle (as the city has been claiming) only backups.

I also find it ironic the city refuses to mention the school district employee’s name. If you are going to make accusations at least tell us who it is, otherwise, what’s the point? Maybe the clerk’s office doesn’t want us questioning that official and getting their side of the story. Well some people have been contacting her, and she does have a different version.

Who knows who is telling the truth? Like most government officials, it is ‘SOMEONE ELSE’S FAULT.’

RIP Chuck

I just found out via FB that my longtime barber, Chuck passed away. When I first started going to Grange Avenue Barber Shop (15 years ago?) I would only let Chuck cut my hair, he was highly recommended and was the former head of the Barber school (Pre-Stewart’s). After he retired I started letting the owner Anne cut my hair (and she is fantastic). My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. I have never met a barber faster or better. He could cut a flat-top in about 5 minutes.

The Antidote – Vol. 2 Issue 17

Republicans like John Thune and Kristi Noem like to rant about how America’s corporate taxes are the highest in the world and that if we only would cut them we could jump start the economy and create jobs.

It’s a great political line.  It also happens to be untrue.

Recent tax figures released for 2011 indicate that the corporate taxes as a percentage of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of this country were 1.2 percent or $180 billion dollars last year.  That is as low a percentage America corporations have paid since the beginning of the industrial revolution.

Indeed, research shows that our corporate tax rate last year in terms of taxes paid by corporations in America was approximately 12 percent not the 35 percent myth that Republicans would like to have Americans believe.  That 12 percent is a stunningly low number and one that places American corporations’ tax burden well below those of most all the industrialized countries in the world.  That is a fact and no amount of rhetoric can change that.
