An ‘UBER’ great weekend

I heard that UBER driver service soon will be in Sioux Falls, I say GREAT!

UBER has had criticism because it can’t be regulated like regular cab companies. Once again I say GREAT!

Regulations equal higher rates, especially in the taxi industry.

UBER drivers are regulated though by UBER, they do vehicle inspections and background checks on their drivers. The way they get around taxi regulations is that you don’t pay or tip the driver, you pay UBER through a phone app.

I used UBER about 4 times this past weekend in Minneapolis. Not only was there a fast response time, the vehicles were clean (and so were the drivers) and in most cases the cab ride was about 25% of the cost of a regular cab.

I say bring on UBER to Sioux Falls!

Sioux Falls Parks Director, Don Kearney, says MOU with VA is ‘Not Required’

During the SF city council informational meeting today, Director Kearney told councilor Staggers that they pretty much don’t have a MOU, and when asked if they intend to get one, he said they feel it is ‘Not Required’.

So in other words ‘NO’.

Erpenbach chimes in and agrees with Don saying since the city owns the land the agreement is not necessary. I guess that Michelle has a degree in Federal property law, I was unaware, I sure feel like a jackass right now 🙁

We all know who advised them on NOT getting an MOU, Mr. Loophole David Fiddle-Faddle. And he probably didn’t have a choice, my guess is that the VA blew them off, and for good reason. How would it benefit the VA to have an agreement? It wouldn’t. Now if they need more parking, they have the quit claim deed on their side, the MOU would only weaken their control of Spellerberg Park. I don’t blame them for not participating in an MOU.

All and All, I don’t give a damn either way, never have.

This comes down to the continual broken promises, stonewalling and flat out lies from the administration and directors. The Mayor, the city attorney and Don have all said they were in ‘discussions’ with the VA about the MOU. It is pretty obvious they were lying once again.

They should have just told us from the freaking beginning, “We are not getting an MOU, and never intend to.”

Instead, Lies, Lies, Lies.

Kind of hard to break ground when you have lawsuits pending

UPDATE: Here is the Ballot Language: (DOC: 52013-Ballot-SAMPLE-back)

Funny, Walmart is under the impression they are going to break ground on their new Southside store even though a very multi-faceted lawsuit has been filed against them;

The group “Save Our Neighborhood” which sued the city back in 2013 for violating zoning laws, filed a lawsuit Monday against the city.

The groups’ attorney says the city is breaking the law.

Joel Arends explains, “In the April 2014 election we were promised a conditional use permit for the property out there at 85th and Minnesota. Unfortunately the city Has broken it’s promise and they’ve broken the law by refusing to want to offer a conditional use permit”.

While that is ‘part’ of the suit, there are plenty of other ‘goodies’ in the lawsuit I’m told. Once those details come out, it is going to be a little difficult for WM to start moving dirt in the next couple of weeks, if ever.
