I think Amendment W will pass

Like IM 22 that was a similar measure, I think W will only pass by a small margin. But what I have found interesting is the opposition to W. While I would expect a simple campaign of just ‘Vote NO on W’, I have found the opposition to be quite ironic. Some of the opposition include;

SD Chamber of Commerce

Retailers Association

SD League of (Anti-Citizens) Cities

Several SD State Legislators on both sides of the aisle.

Should it surprise ANY of us that the biggest lobbyists in the State and Legislators are against this? Their opposition only enforces the reason why WE need this. Citizens need independent protections from legislative corruption. Nothing like that exists.

Are there some issues with ‘W’? Sure, but tweaks can be made along the way. I’m not one who thinks we need to throw the baby out with the bathwater. I think we need to go whole hog on this and pass it and deal with those tweaks later.

It is way overdue, we NEED anti-corruption rules in place in Pierre. This should have been done 50 years ago.

Mayor TenHaken’s office has armed guard now?

Apparently there has been some threats made towards the mayor and city employees so now the mayor’s office has an armed guard and you have to be buzzed in.

The rumor I heard was that someone walked into the mayor’s office and took a can of Coke out of his refrigerator.

Who knows?!

What is ironic about this is that our State Legislature in all of their wisdom think it is okay to carry concealed weapons into public buildings like City Hall and Carnegie, and now someone steals a pop from Paul and we need a sentinel.

Oh the irony.

Sioux Falls city council plays ‘Chicken’ over joint jurisdiction

Had to chuckle watching the city employees (mostly) and the city council approving the wedding barn. We all know they were scared the Minnehaha County Commission was prepared to pull the joint jurisdiction ‘polite’ agreement, so they chose to pull out on the game of ‘chicken’. Neitzert’s ‘NO’ vote was ‘taking one for the team.’ They know they have no power in rural districts to predict future growth. But they ‘Think’ they do. LOL.

Horror mixes uneasily with psychological trauma as two abused teens — one a zombie — flee authorities in Justin P. Lange’s first feature.

Join IndiEvents and Club David, Wednesday, October 24 for the South Dakota Premiere of THE DARK.

THE DARK has played festivals around the world and won the best screenplay at The Fantaspoa International Fantasy Film Festival.

A murderous, flesh-eating undead young girl haunting the remote stretch of woods where she was murdered decades earlier discovers a kidnapped and abused boy hiding in the trunk of one of her victim’s cars. Her decision to let the boy live throws her aggressively solitary existence into upheaval and ultimately forces her to reexamine just how much of her humanity her murderer was able to destroy.

The screening will be at 7 PM and 9:30 pm Club David. Tickets are $8 in advance and $12 at the door.
