OOHH . . . . not so good

Besides Mr. Food, the KSFY news at 11:30 wasn’t that great. Though Shawn does give the weather report most of the newscast is filled with national stories recycled from the day before.

Well, without notice, I’m home for lunch today, and at 11:30 there is an info-commercial on about the Dean Martin show (now available on DVD). On the top of the screen was a message scrolling that said “The 11:30 Action News will no longer broadcast on KSFY” with a phone number you could call and ask why.

Um . . . Okay.

I guess there isn’t enough ACTION in Sux Falls to have that much news. That’s OKAY I can always watch the Ice Princess on KELO-TV at NOON.

Well, that should settle it

The Supreme Court has decided not to hear the appeal over Obama’s citizenship and eligability for the presidency.

While this may not settle the stirred-up folks over at voices-crazy, it should put the matter to rest for the sane population. The last, desparate attempt to keep the secret Muslim terrorist out of the Whitehouse has failed.

On the bright side, it looks as though Obama’s a pragmatist just like I figured all along. He’s picked good people for his cabinet (though I still think Hillary has too much baggage to be Sec. State), and is willing to hear ideas from all sides.

Sorry, Wingnuts, the better man won.

Hey, Steve, how does that crow taste? You should really share it with Sibby, since he feeds you (conspiracies) all the time.

Kranz writes another story about nothing

Get out the grill and cookup some catfish, Janoct may be shucking and jiving his way back into the mayoral race.

Must have been a slow week for politics. That’s okay, David from the Gargoyle Leader goes back to his old standby, the 2010 mayor race in Sux Falls. He interviews all of the contenders and gets the same canned answer from them all;

“I think it would be a tremendous honor and fun to be mayor of Sioux Falls, but I have not made that decision. I will talk about it with my family, my friends and my business partners,” Costello said.

The column gives no clue who is running, in fact the only one that really admitted to running was Mr. Downtown-business-taxpayer-handouts Bill Peterson (I hope he runs because I will be at every single forum bringing up the taxypayer handouts he has asked for as president of DT SF.)

And my good old buddy Vernon acts so coy;

“People have been asking, but it is too early to make a decision like that. I am not ruling it out, not ruling it in. The mayor of Sioux Falls is an attractive job,” he said. “It always boils down to where I am at with my family, my job. I don’t know what suddenly has people generating more conversation.”

Of course Vernon can’t say, because he promised when running against Stehly that he was going to finish out his term as councilor and not run for mayor. But if we look at Vernon’s voting record, you can tell he is not a man of his word. (I also hope he runs, so I can ask you intend to serve as councilor and mayor).

And the one that made spit coffee through my nose when I read it, Mr. Metal Detector-Fear Factor-Road-Rager Bob Schlitz;

“I will say a lot of people have been asking me that lately, and I am flattered. I will have to consider it. I am humbled and amazed that there are people who think you can do that. That’s a big thing being mayor of the state’s largest city.”

NO BOB – IT’S A HUGE AWESOME THING! Bigger then a 20 pound hammer or a portable cement mixer. BTW Bob, if you become mayor you can’t sit on 10 different city boards and twist people’s noses anymore.

Here is the unofficial South DaCola list of candidates;

Almost 100% sure: Vernon Brown – Kermit Staggers – Pat Costello – Bill Peterson

Fitty-Fitty: De Knudson – Gary Hanson – Ghost of Dude – Beninga

Long shots: Jim Abnor – Bob Litz

I’m also sure Janoct Adja will run again as long as he is still allowed to dance with Shauna Janklow at Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues concerts.

Fix up Howard Wood field and move on already

Once against the Sports Authority and Event Center puddknockers stuck their nose where it does not belong with the SF school district. If you guys want to pay my property taxes I’ll let you decide what is done with Howard Wood otherwise go back to kissing Munson’s butt, golfing, watching football or whatever you do in your free time.

The district has budgeted $6.48 million for improvements to the field in 2010, Alberty said.

As you can see the money was already budgeted to make improvements. So what’s the holdup?

A proposal to build an events center in Sioux Falls put the stadium’s future in question last year.

Why? The school board should only be taking advice and suggestions from a couple groups, property tax payers and parents, not men in slick suits who get a boner everytime someone mentions ‘Vikings Training Camp’. Fix the field already, the EC is a pipe dream that is at least 5-7 years down the road.

Tax Happy!

What a perfect time to raise taxes, while the economy is in the toilet. That’s our city government, always thinking (about their campaign contributors that is).

KELO-TV does a story;

Eight South Dakota communities will implement new municipal taxes or increase taxes on January 1.

And Sioux Falls is increasing its current 1.92 percent local sales tax to 2 percent.

I would like to thank anyone who signed the petition to lower the sales tax in 2010 to 1.90 this past weekend.
