Poetry Club w/ Charles Luden

It was just a gift of time
that brought openness
to the affair
There were good words
There was peace
then alcohol and mock anger
After a cup of sweet coffee
a rough good good bye

I FONDLED THE FRINGES OF YOUR JACKET

YOU FINGERED THE FRINGES OF MY  MIND

Soft urine color on your coat

Brine taste on the lips

Magic to the senses and thoughts

The wind

The clouds

A field in view

The window in time will shatter

But not your love or sullen mind

The Staggers interview

‘Stop listening to the BS. Start watching the actions.’

The Argus Endorser did an interview with Dr. Kermit Staggers, gotta love the quotes;

“For the most part I do not watch the City Council meetings because I generally know what the result is going to be,” he says.

That is one thing I have said about city government, very, very, very predictable.

Staggers sidestepped a question asking him to grade the mayor and City Council on its performance during the past seven months.

In response, he pointed to what he says is a surprising amount of antagonism between Huether and the councilors.

“I’m kind of surprised about the tension between the City Council and the mayor,” Staggers says. “There’s always some tension just because they have different roles and powers. Some of the new members have been very aggressive, and I think that’s OK. They need to get out and find out what’s going on in city government.”

Good for Kermit, the Argus and their stupid f’ing polls, and ‘Grades’ What is this? Elementary school?

“I tell my students at USF, forget what a politician says,” Staggers says. “Just watch how they vote. That’s the most important thing.”

Isn’t that the truth, just look at our current Mayor, Chatty Cathy.

An open invitation to Representative Haggar

In recent days I have been told from people in touch with the ‘Haggar’ camp that Jenna was unaware of the Pac 15 postcard until after it was mailed. First I laughed, then I said,”Bullshit!”

So, I offer an open invitation to Jenna (not her mother, or Pac 15 organizer Dena E., or any other neo-con whack job who is associated with her) to come clean. Email me your HONEST explanation and go ON THE RECORD that you had no association with the postcard. If you are willing to do that, I will post it and let it stand.

Congrats Dusty!

I have mixed feelings about Dusty’s appointment, but I like the guy, and though he has an (R) behind his name, I think he is a progressive person. I hope he takes full advantage of his position to help ordinary South Dakotans;

Public Utilities Commissioner Dusty Johnson will resign from his job at the end of his term and will become Governor-elect Dennis Daugaard’s chief of staff.

Johnson, who was reelected in November was named to his new position this morning in a news conference with Daugaard.

Johnson, 34, defeated Democrat Doyle Karpen with 73 percent of the vote earlier this month to retain the PUC post. Before being elected to the PUC, he was a senior policy advisor to Gov. Mike Rounds.

I am a little upset about him pulling a ‘Bob Litz’, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt, he may not have been angling for the job before the election. We will probably never know.
