April 2010

One more reason we need a fiscal conservative in the mayor’s office . . .

While you can read this story and all the comments under it and come up with your own judgements, it comes as no surprise that these bonuses were handed out. This city has thrown money in the burn barrel like it is going out of style. While I don’t have a problem with bonuses, what I can’t understand is the point of handing bonuses to people who make over $90,000 a year? Are they so f’ing strapped that if they don’t get that extra Grand or Three Grand they won’t be able to make ends meet? It’s like, “Oh, you weren’t able to buy that leather couch for your den, here’s a couple of grand, just laying around, go for it! It’s just working class, taxpayer’s money.,” I hope the next mayor, whoever they are, cleans this house of corruption and greed up.

It makes me sick.

FIRST ANNUAL SEAC POSTCARD SALON and FUNDRAISER

Our inaugural Postcard Salon event is making its debut during the 2010 JazzCrawl event. Several hundred postcards in a 4″ x 6″ format have been created by artists from six states. These will be put on display Wednesday, April 14 for viewing.

However, no purchases can be made until the evening of Saturday, April 17!

On that night, the party starts at 5:00 pm. SEAC members ONLY may purchase cards from 5:15 until 5:30. At that point, everyone else is invited to buy. All postcards will be on sale for $30.00 each, making this an excellent time to add original artwork to your personal collection. Artists have agreed to donate half of all sales to the Sioux Empire Arts Council to continue its arts advocacy work in the region.

Refreshments and appetizers will be served, and admission is FREE!!

Jazz music provided by Dan Larsen .. Make this your first stop on the JazzCrawl!
