GOP AG Candidate Ravnsborg is turning out to be a Chickensh*t

Jason skipped another debate he was invited to. First it was SF Rotary now the USD debate.

Jason, what are you so scared of? That someone with a 1,000x more experience would school you about what the inside of a courtroom looks like?

Jason Ravnsborg is turning out to be a real fraud. Haven’t we had enough corruption and fakes in the Attorney General’s office?

The Denty bonds have never been paid for with user fees

Remember former Mayor Bucktooth & Bowlcut’s mantra? Facilities/services should be paid for through user fees.

This has been the argument for raising sewer and water rates to pay the treatment plant bonds.

Yet, all of these facilities have NEVER been paid for through user fees;

Indoor Pool, Admin building, Huether Tennis Center and most famously the Denty.

The idea was certainly pitched that every ticket purchased at the Denty would have a fee attached to it to help pay down the $9 million a year mortgage. The former mayor responded something like this, “We will certainly look at it.”

While the Denty has done a good job covering operating expenses and management fees, it has contributed very little to capital improvement or paying the mortgage, both which come from the 2nd Penny (we all pay it when we purchase something in Sioux Falls).

A $5 ticket fee or more could easily be attached to the ticket price to help pay down the mortgage, other facilities across the nation do it, but SMG has said that artists and promoters set ticket prices and are opposed to it. Phooey!

Minnehaha County Commission allows 23 minutes of public input and No one got hurt

I found it a little ironic that the MCC allowed public input for over 23 minutes without incident, no gaveling, and not cutting off after a certain ‘time limit’. In fact the MCC engaged them in conversation (GET OUT!).

First at regular public input, Jay Masur from MedStar talked for 9 minutes about fees. He even apologized for going 9 minutes, in which none of the commissioners responded. In fact during his testimony they had a conversation about his concerns (imagine that).

After Masur, a couple of rural residents did a planned presentation on a rural trail system (14 Minutes);

The MCC also engaged them on something that is important to the constituents.

The Sioux Falls City Council needs to take a page from the MCC on how important public input is, and that meetings don’t have time limits and to engage the public in conversation. Instead they get angry about talking to long, chastise them for being repetitive and don’t ask questions or engage them.

If the SFCC wants to learn something from the MCC it is about the proper procedure of taking public input, which in most cases should be unlimited.

The Sutton-Noem affair

BERNIE! BERNIE! BERNIE! ABORTION! BERNIE!

Well after all the talking heads were done spewing their rhetoric, I figured it was time for me to weigh in on the Sutton/Noem debate and polling.

While the polling did surprise me, I still don’t know how Billie will be able to close a 97,000 vote gap (that’s how many more registered Republicans there are) even you eliminate the people who will choose not to vote and some of the independents it still is an enormous gap. I think Sutton COULD win, but the winning game plan should have started 90 days ago when Kristi was horsing around in DC. The Dems do this to themselves all the time, they keep using the same strategy over and over and expecting different results. I still give the win to Noem by at least 53-55%.

If Billie does pull this off, it will be by the skin of his teeth and it won’t be because of Dem leadership which has been losing registered voters hand over fist for several years now.

As for the debate, I thought it was tie, and NOT because either performed that well, they both just kind of went off the rails on different topics. I’m not sure if either one of them is prepared to run the state.
