Daugaard

Doogard. Rounds Part II (H/T Helga)

“Mirror, mirror on the wall, whose the biggest crony of them all?”

I’m still wondering when South Dakotans are going to wake up and realize that if you keep electing Republicants to Pierre, you will continue to get more of the same results. Cronyism, nepotism, low wages, limited worker rights, unfair taxes, etc, etc. As Jack Billion said in our last podcast (paraphrasing) “We gotta compete with Mississippi for last place.” While there should be outrage over Doogard’s latest hiring, right out of the Marion Rounds playbook, I wonder how many people will care or even notice. And that’s what Republicants depend on, “Nothing to see here, move along.”

Daugaard’s son, Chris, landed a job with the PUC as an initiative and utility analyst at a starting salary of $55,000.

What a Kwinky-Dink? Huh?

Denny Doogard’s latest ad is extremely misleading

Well, I was waiting for this, the SD GOP can’t resist to twist the facts, and in this latest Doogard ad, they went a twistin;

Okay, so let’s get started.

While this number may be true on the surface, it couldn’t be more misleading. Denny isn’t counting the countless that are underemployed, working multiple part-time jobs and not working in their field (like myself) in low skill, low paying jobs. Because hey, if you got a job, any job, you are EMPLOYED! One has to scratch their head when our poverty rate is 4xs our unemployment rate.

I just about spit my vodka tonic on my computer screen when I saw this part of the commercial. Denny fails to tell you this happened after the state pretty much cut education, cut road maintenance, cut social programs then took a big check from the feds. I suppose I could balance my budget if I stopped eating, turned off my heat and lights, dug a hole in the ground and became a hermit.

Yes, but let’s talk about the millions we have lost in those investments. Let’s also talk about why we are letting taxpayer money get moldy in a reserve account when we should either be spending it on the greater good or cutting taxes.

The only people that are well positioned are the rich who keep the little man down in SD by protecting their wealth. Many business men in SD have used the recession as an excuse to not give raises, to cut benefits and vacation, and to overwork employees even though they are not hurting. It is disgusting.

To tell you the truth, I was disappointed that Denny went down this path, but no surprise that he eventually showed his true GOP colors; Yellow, Yellow and Yellow.

Doogard; King Rounds’ good soldier?

On some levels I agree with both candidates on stimulus money education funding;

Heidepriem said it’s a good bill that doesn’t increase the nation’s debt.

“This is an administration that accepted all the revitalization dollars, $250 million to balance the budget over the last three years,” said Heidepriem. “This administration accepted $183 million earmarked for roads and bridges in the state of South Dakota, but when it comes to education this administration says no. Strings attached _ we don’t want it.”

Heidi-Scott is right. We accept Federal dollars all the time, and if this helps education, why refuse the money?

Daugaard said regulations yet to be written could force the state to spend money in ways not fiscally responsible. He asked if school boards would have to fire teachers hired or retained with the money if it’s not available next year.

“I am not willing to say that I will accept that money and spend it without knowing first what strings are attached,” Daugaard said. “I think that’s good government.”

Dennis is also right, what kind of stipulations will the Feds throw at us? I guess the simple thing to do is to just ask? Right? A CC company can’t give you a card without giving you their terms of service. I find it hard to believe that the Feds would be handing out money before they tell us how to use it. Seems Dennis is playing politics with this one.

But this statement shocked me a little (well not really);

He (Doogard) said he doesn’t always agree with the governor but made a commitment when he became lieutenant governor not to publicly disagree with Rounds.

And we wonder why government is broken? Too many yes men.

Big PARTAY in the barn Doogard built with his bare hands

Come on over, my buddy Ironic Johnny will be there to. Heck, we might even do his Christmas card photo shoot in the barn!

Republican big shots will be on hand at Dennis Daugaard’s farm this Saturday for a fundraiser to help the state party. The party will be held Saturday evening in Daugaard’s barn near Garretson, the same place that he kicked off his campaign for governor.

Daugaard will be there, as will Sen. John Thune. The money they help raise will likely go to help the state party keep the lights on and fund down-ballot races, particularly in the state Legislature.
