Wealth redistribution: Popular with South Dakotans
Ghost of Dude Dissing Obama’s supposed “income redistribution plan” is pretty popular in SD these days. What most here won’t admit or realise is that our state is on federal welfare and has been for some time.
Check THIS out for the numbers.
In 2005 (the most current year in the study), we got back$1.53 for every dollar we sent to the federal government.
In other words, the tax dollars of other states are being redistributed to fund our low tax lifestyle.
Many of you have seen the Johnson/Munson ad where Munson does everything but fellate Johnson for bringing in so much money for pet projects around SF. Rep. Herseth-Sandlin also mentions in her ads the money she’s helped to bring in while she’s been in congress. Why are we as frugal, up-by-the-bootstraps (whatever that means), God-fearing South Dakotans electing such welfare queens to office?
Could it be that deep down, we really like the idea of wealth redistribution?Â

Are these people completely nuts? Maybe the Obama campaign has thrown a little mud – but so has the McLame campaign. Cindy, go home and drink some Budweiser, or whatever you do in your spare time.

And the hits just keep coming. The story about the Ayres/Obama connection had already circulated during the primaries (can I give you some advice Rick Davis? If you are going to dig up dirt on your opponent, make sure it is something the American people haven’t heard about 5 million times already).
I guess if you have tea or coffee with someone you automatically take on their views. Should Have Obama associated himself with Ayres? Probably not a good idea in hindsight, but certainly not something I’m too worried about. Ayres has apologized for his actions and is regretful. The late 60’s were a turbulent time and there were several radical groups in circulation. Considering that Obama was only 8 years old at the time Ayres was up to his shananigans I doubt Barack knew half the stuff Ayres had did in his past when they first met.
But this concerns me a little more, and am surprised it took the Obama campaign this long to bring up this story. I have always felt that John got away with this with just a slap on the wrist.
